Benefits of Referral System should be like as multi level marketing

The above image gives clear Idea..

Example :-
Someone ' A ' who signs up through your referral link gets some points I.e Karma .

And " A " referrer " B " and so on... There needs to be some benefits in terms of karma to motivate referrals..

Just an idea that.comes up my mind..
You might have already seen MLM - Multi level marketing in Amway ..

Something like that..

This might be a little complicated for us to set up with the system we have.

I was considering doing discounts for referrals if they purchase membership, or if they already have the membership, an extension. We can't automate it yet, but it's pretty easy to just count that and then offer the discount when a member contacts us about it.

So something like 50% off if 10 of your referrals purchase Sapphire, and if you have 20 referrals who purchased Sapphire, you'd get 100% off of the upgrade of your choice yourself.

It's not set in stone, it's just what we're leaning toward. We need to consider any potential for abuse or other weird issues doing this would cause. For instance, what if everyone refers people, and nobody purchases upgrades because they're all waiting for their own referrals to purchase first? As mildly amusing as that situation sounds, it might be frustrating for members who also want to become traders here but also get the discount.

I need to get the karma benefit working as well as I'm unsure if others have been getting karma for it. It's not an issue to just send karma based on the top referrer list right if I can't get it working, though.

Karma as a reward for user sign up is fine, but that is the end of it, but even that would require email verification to stop people from signing up 100+ alts just for the sake of "karma"

Going down to tier 2, tier 3 etc. Stinks.

It seems like a lot of people are happy with just having the referral system as it is, and giving karma would be a nice bonus.

We are still thinking over the possibility of the other benefit, but you are right that we need to discourage spam signups just to farm karma.

We have some measures in place already to stop junk signups-ups, but I’ll see what else we can do to combat this kind of issue.
