Implemented Add Latest threads to homepage instead of forum list

This suggestion has been implemented.
Yeah, I also prefer it that way, can't really tell if it's really better or just a force of habit.

I like it as is, the tabs gets all I need in form of new posts, new threads and so on.

I think it is easier for new visitors to find categories fast instead of trying to find the forum list.

I will say that if this suggestion were popular enough, one thing I could consider for the future is looking into the feasibility of adding the latest posts widget to the top of the homepage and displaying about 20 threads or so. I believe there is an option to do this ("Forum overview: Top" for my reference later), but I'm not sure how it would look yet and the widget settings would likely need to be adjusted. This might satisfy both those who prefer the list and those who prefer the feed as it would give us a cleaner-looking feed we're familiar with and the subforums on the same page. The only downside to doing this as it might seem a bit messy on the mobile version of the site.

I would like to share that when I was setting this forum up, this was something I considered adding in. However, I felt like the only reason I was even considering adding it in was because that was what was familiar to me.

From my experience working on the other forum, I always felt like there were issues with people not knowing where sections were; I think most of us just clicked whatever link was on the sidebar, but there were many sections I went to that required me to go to the forum list. I'm also trying to avoid giving anyone the impression that this is just an alternate version of that place; we use Xenforo, but no assets or anything like that there were re-used here as I started from scratch with everything.

For now, the two widgets on the homepage are meant to act as the feed. They aren't the nicest things in the world, but I can always adjust them at a later point.

I appreciate you making this suggestion as it always gives us a lot to think about, @Festinger Vault

P.S. I need to train myself out of saying "we" and "us" so much...

We've decided to keep the homepage as is for now. I know the forum list would make it look busier, but I also think it would make this site look too much like a clone of the other one, and that's not the impression we want to give off.

Still, thank you very much for the suggestion!

I re-opened this as being under consideration as we are looking into adding feeds to the homepage.

Check this thread out as we're going to create a concept page: https://officeoutlaw.com/threads/updating-the-homepage.789/

Bear in mind that the concept isn't going to be one massive feed; we're setting it up so it's split between a discussion section feed, a Trading Post feed, and a news feed (maybe a custom feed, we're still making it). It's just to prevent that issue where someone would bump all of their sales threads at once and clog up the feed when someone people just wanted to see discussion threads.

It's all still just a concept, but we'll be looking for feedback (ba dum ts) on it once its done as we want to compromise between those who like the subforums being easy to access on the homepage and those who want a feed on the homepage.

Since the homepage has now been updated to show the latest posts, we can finally consider this suggestion to be implemented!

Thank you for the suggestion, @Festinger Vault!
