Would you ever quit the internet?

Sometimes I get so frustrated being online. It’s just not fun any more like it was in the 2000s.

I find myself daydreaming about quitting the internet entirely. Maybe it’s a bit of a jump but I don’t even know if the benefits of using it are really there anymore with all the AI slop everywhere these days. Information, communication, everything just feels ruined.

Yes, I did quit for couple years due to mental hiccups.

You just don't create online and you don't need to visit. Simple as that.

You can create your own intranet at home and your own universe. You can start by writing a lot of notes and reading books.

Just get those books first and make sure they're on topics of your interests. Otherwise absence from the internet will be pain in the a...

And add some traveling.

I mean, whether you quit internet or not, you'll have to improve certain things in life...

You have to change your habits to get less AI slop. You can learn to do it. But don't do it on too many sites. I just focus on YouTube, TikTok. And I balance between consumption and production. I don't just mindlessly consume content.

I am very careful with who I follow and which feeds I use. If you look at my profiles it's mostly me talking to myself.

normal behavior would be knowing when to just shut off and go touch grass
no diff from the same ppl who ask for a ban because they cannot stop themselves from returning.

Yeah, exactly. The internet isn't so overwhelming when you take medication.

It's still exhausting for body to spend so much time looking at screens in similar positions, but mentally it's completely different game.

Frustration has many sources... I had unreasonable extreme anger issues due to my illness. I would trash whole setups being so irritable.

I trashed about 15 software projects until I realized... where all these issues come from... it wasn't simple because so many pharmaceutical drugs had to be tested and understood.

I still have those projects on my mind. But with normal approach. Code was shit anyways.

I could, but I see no reason to do so. The internet has given me so much throughout the years that I will be forever loyal. Though, I must admit, it certainly has changed a lot. The internet of the 90's was the best. I am truly happy that I got to experience that.

It depends on why I would quit. There’s really no reason for me to quit unless I became extremely bored with it or something else became more interesting.

Very underrated... In the past I used to unplug on weekends and either read books or maybe actually a couple of 90ish-2000ish style sites that were basically like books, a wall of text, no ads or ads wouldn't work on what I was using to read them. No instant messengers, no getting lost in endless google searches, no notifications, no flashing videos.

The whole internet? no wtf who would quit THE WHOLE INTERNET?

No info, no details on stuff, some places require you to use their website to book appointments. Live in society and you can't just quit THE WHOLE INTERNET

I would not voluntarily , but do not honest disconnected does feel nice when on holiday. ( albeit still using google maps for navigation so still internet)

Better question would be quit social media: then definitely.

I come off the internet but no matter how long the break coming back to it just feels like a drag. It’s like a bad job when you can take weeks off but feel worse coming back.

But when you have a bad job you can quit and get a new one. So what do you do when you’ve got a bad internet?
