Oh man… I’m losing everything right now (mind and money) except weight : D

I’ve been trying to lose about 8kg for over two months now. The first two weeks were actually nice... I dropped 4kg quickly.
But ever since then, nothing is moving again.

Maybe I’m becoming unnecessarily obsessed because I still do daily cardio (except Sundays), and I intermittent fast most of the week.
One week I’ll drop 1kg and feel pumped, then the next week I gain 1 or even 2kg back : /

And the crazy part… I haven’t changed anything really. Same diet and routine I used when the 4kg fell off fast, maybe even a bit stricter now.

So let me tap into the wisdom of the forum : )
What are some of your best weight-loss tips... things you’ve actually tried that worked?

Oh, and please nothing gym-related. I’m not a gym person. I prefer working out from home and I’ve got some light equipment here already.

Maybe I will pick something from your routine that will finally convince this weight to stop being so emotionally attached to me : D
 
Not a diet guy really, but normal sense if you wanna lose weight, eat one cooked meal only, not both lunch and dinner .. drink coffee or water if you just want a snack.
 
I have on diet because of diabetes with no sugar related products and loose 5 kg in a month but now gain 2 kg with eating lots of sugar food.. actually i have sugar craving which i can't hold much myself. Now daily i thinking Payal don't eat sweets it's not good for health that thought come up after eating sweets not before that. :ROFLMAO:
Drink warm water instead of normal water.. Even it's winter now so warm water can be drink easily.
 
Kettlebells pretty good way to burn of fat .

Going for walks both should make you reach your goal fairly easily

I've been losing weight over the last year and building more muscle at the same time. I mainly just wanted to get back in shape and have my old build back, so it wasn't a dramatic weight loss journey for me (I was at 155 pound a year ago and now I'm 137 pounds).

As tedious as it may sound, track your calories and keep your self in calorie deficit based on your activity level. For example, I'm very physically active (flexibility training every day, weight lifting 3 times per week, walking a couple of miles every day, running a couple of miles once per week; that kind of thing) and I used a calculator to estimate what my required calories would be. Most calculators seemed to think I'd need between 2,500 and 3,000 calories per day to maintain my weight. I try to aim for eating only 1,500 calories each day, although ever since I hit my target weight, I've bumped this up to about 2,200 each day on average and started doing something called "zigzagging", which is when you have something like 2,500 calories one day and then 1500 calories the next. One more word of advice is that it's always best to overestimate how many calories you've had and underestimate your activity level if you want to lose weight. Overall, it feels difficult at first, but gets a lot easier over time.

Some people will tell you to steer clear of specific foods. I did this at first, but look, I like cookies, so I'll have them occasionally and just track the calories as I do with everything else.

I hate the gym as well. Keep building up your home equipment and look into calisthenics as well if you haven't already.
 
How much calories are you eating? Maybe you're starving yourself with that one meal a day thing and it has the reverse effect of your body accumulating fat to protect itself from starvation? I mean one to two meals a day is fine, no need to eat 3, but you still need to get enough calories from these meals (not too much so you're not gaining weight but also not too little so your body isn't panicking and retaining weight). Good luck buddy.
 
I lost about 7 kg in the last few months, bothing too special except lowering the amount of carbs I eat (to lower my usage of insulin) and eat less crap. I eat around 1000-1200 calories per day mostly because I forget meals.
I don't do any exercise beyond making coffee.
 
How much is your current weight?

If you are doing 1 meal a day only and you are not losing weight, that would be weird (unless you are eating more calories than you would on a 3 meals per day which is hard).

How long have you been going on this 1 meal per day diet?

Do you move during the day or most of your day you are sedentary?

Diabetes is terrifying to me, I'm just waiting on it

Family's riddled with diabetes and have pals that did not have a good time with it from not looking after it

Things like creatine you think would put weight on you but if you're putting on weight from eating good food while being active

There's a fat difference between healthy weight and unhealthy weight

Unhealthy weight from what I've seen actually hurts to lose... I could lose all my brand new, 5 year build up of 10kg of healthy weight from eating like a horse in a week

Look into keto though.

You gain fat by consuming carbs + fat together and that triggers the randle cycle.

That's why low fat or low carb diets work in the short term but only one is optimal long term ;)

(Mostly due to the lack of nutrition in high carbs.)

Fun fact: dietary requirements for carbohydrates are exactly 0 since you can make all the glucose you need through gluconeogenesis.

I’ve been consistent with workouts but not consistent with calorie tracking tbh, so I’d need to tighten that part up.

Your overall approach sounds interesting and easier to stick to long-term.

I don’t want to cut out everything just because of weight loss and you explained perfectly how that can be avoided with zigzagging : D and tracking calories since I also enjoy small treats sometimes.

If I’m being honest, I don’t think I’m starving myself or doing any hardcore starvation but it’s true that I might not be eating enough on some days.

I still feel okay throughout the day and eventually just go to bed.

I’m going to start tracking the calories properly now to see what the numbers actually look like. Thank you SC < 3

I don’t do one meal every day consistently. Sometimes I snack too especially when I’m up late at night, so I end up eating midnight snacks. But if I sleep early then I usually just do one meal a day. I’ve been doing that for a couple of months now.

Most of my day is spent on the PC, so I’m definitely more sedentary than active, apart from the cardio and other workouts I do at home every morning.

I used to take evening walks but I haven’t done that in a while to be honest : )

I still feel healthy and fit though... I play football every weekend, so I’m not totally out of shape.

I just want to get rid of the extra weight now because once the Christmas period comes, I already know I’m getting smashed again : D

I might actuually look deeper into keto and see if it’s something I can adapt without going crazy. Thank you mate
 
Losing actual fat takes time. The start is always quick, but that's mostly just water weight. Remember that 1 kg of fat is around 7,000 calories, so you need to burn a lot of calories in order to reach that 8 kg. Track your macros and try to do some cardio each day, and you will reach your goal.
 
The snacks are what destroys your progress most likely, you are killing the fasting and giving your cells sugar instead of protein and things they actually need.
 
Stop fasting for 1 week or extend it by 12 hours. You have hit your natural plateau, YOU will get past it and then weight will fall off this is the point most give up, you just need to grind it out for 3-6 weeks or alternate what your doing enough to keep your body guessing.

1kg = 7,000 calories… I actually thought it would be more but it makes sense now : D

I will track things better and see if I can cut 500-1000 calories while keeping the daily cardio going as well

Yeah I think the snacks are where I keep shooting myself in the foot, even though I don’t snack all the time.

What I will do now is give out all the snacks I have at home and staying off them for a few weeks to see what the results look like.

If I don’t have it around, it’s way easier to avoid : )

I actually wanted to check in because I didn’t see you around the threads for a few days before I made this post, and even I’ve been away for a couple days myself. Hope you’re doing better now.

I will definitely try switching things up a bit and mix it with some of the things Z suggested to keep a good balance. If I stick to the right things for a few weeks, like you said, the weight should start dropping again
