The company has added roughly 1,000 employees since November and now has more than 3,000 staff, according to one analysis of publicly available data. And it's not done: the maker of the Claude chatbot is advertising hundreds of open roles, many with salaries above $250,000.

The lab is being flooded with applicants, from ambitious strivers to world-renowned engineers and high-ranking executives willing to take title cuts for a shot at feeling like they’re at the center of it all.

The competition is so fierce that some candidates are turning to a cottage industry of career coaches and interview-prep companies, paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars for mock interviews and other resources to improve their chances.

In interviews with career coaches, recruiters and candidates, one part of Anthropic’s process stood out: the culture interview. The exercise is meant to go beyond whether a candidate is qualified to perform a particular job and probe the more nebulous question of whether they will fit in at the company.

Culture-fit interviews are common across tech, but many are more of a vibe check. At Anthropic, the exercise appears to be taken more seriously.

Interesting read. Hiring people from diverse professional backgrounds makes a lot of sense for AI companies. If these models are going to be used across every industry, it helps to have people who understand how those industries actually work.
