In case you haven't noticed, Office Outlaw has a 'headpat' feature similar to the poke button Facebook has. This was requested by a member here named @Tor.

If you're unfamiliar with this feature, it just sends someone an alert that you "headpat" them and they can "headpat" you back.

All you have to do to use it is hover over someone's username and click the "Headpat" button.

Note that you can headpat as many members as you want, but you can only headpat each person once. After you've headpat a member, the button will be greyed out and say "Headpatted" so you know which members you've already headpat.

On April 30, 2025, poke was changed to headpat by community request.

Is there a function that only allows certain users to poke you? Like users thar you follow?
When we have more users the mods/ high profile members will be pokes to death, without an option to turn it off

Poked to death.

Sounds like a good ice breaker in my funeral.

Is it just me who’s getting a confirmatory popup before the poke goes through?

Also, great feature! I’m imagining an alternate timeline where OO has the “touch” feature instead.

@Yes touched you.
You know, maybe we can rename it to "touch" for April Fools' Day next year. ;)

Is there a list of way to see who have poked you?
or is it just buried under all the notifications?

We Guess, it's currently buried under all notifications .. 🏝️

I feel like a boomer again (sorry @UnusualSubstance ) but I can't see the point of it. What usecases does poking have that a DM or a profile post doesn't?
The only appropriate response to a poke is a poke back, and then what?

Don't worry about it! It was based on a feature of the same name that was popular on Facebook years ago. I never used it on Facebook back then, but some people find it fun, and I can tell because I keep getting people poking me here every day.

Honestly, it doesn't have much of a use outside of being another way to have a bit of slightly obnoxious fun, but it's a very light weight add-on that seems to be well-received so far.

By the way, I poked you. :eek:

When I was a kid, I thought 'poke' meant sticking a finger in someone's butt, because of the icon, lol.
:censored::censored::censored::censored: FR.
It still does.

Porking something else.

Repeated IM pokes. How many complaints result in a restraining order. I've not used that feature but asking for a friend.
