I personally believe, this should be set to
All Visitors or Members Only


Outlaws You Follow & Nobody should both be removed from the options.

Reasons
Here my high level reasoning
- Increased Transparency & Trust
- You shouldn't have anything to hide
- Improves User-to-User Interaction
- Reduces scam/sockpuppeting and even speds i mean bots who purpose upon signing up is just filled with malicious intents

I think all of us have our gripes with that being set to nobody. It’s not an issue for moderators, but I remember it being frustrating as a member on the other forum. It was often used mostly by previously banned members.

I should be able to remove that option today.

That is a good idea. I just double-checked the ignore feature, and it doesn't prevent people you have ignored from viewing your profile, but it does prevent them from searching your username. It means they can see your profile but only if they have the direct link, as far as I can tell.

I'll see if we can add an option for preventing users from being able to see your profile entirely.

If you have a member on your ignore list, they can send you DMs but you won't be able to see them.

If we can have the option for users to prevent members they ignore from seeing their profile, then it could also be an option for blocking DMs from them too.

Well wouldn't it be like a shadowban, them trying to message you and just not being able to since you will most likely not be joining the DM ? ( I think that is how it would work)

because they will still be able to see your posts
and then while they may not be able to search you by your username to get to your profile
they can still click your mini profile in the threads & click on Send DM or whatever still

Luckily, the ignore feature doesn't show a message like that. It never works, because then you just want to click the post to see what's there.

I tested the ignore feature a bit and wrote up how it works over here. Right now, the main thing to keep in mind about it is that ignoring someone won't hide any existing direct messages you have with them - it will prevent you from seeing any new messages from them in that conversation though.
