I’m not talking about LinkedIn here. I’m talking adding them to a personal FB.

Would any of you add co-workers to your personal social media, why or why not?

The ones you like, yes.

Yes

It doesn’t sound like it'd hurt... could it?

Sure. I haven't worked a traditional office job in nearly 20 years, but when I was working IT, I frequently exchanged social media information (Myspace/Facebook) with co-workers. However, I also never shared anything on social media I wasn't willing to share in-person. Networking is always important. I've gotten client leads from those old co-workers many many years later, and also found a great job placement for one when an opportunity that fit them came by.

Uhmmm. I'm biased here because I never worked 9 to 5 and I'm a freelancer / small agency but I do add people I meet on events to LinkedIn and I don't use Facebook for personal stuff really, only to get clients and yes, I do add other freelancers to my fb contacts eh.

I've had good and bad experiences with this

You end up with a load of Me's pesting you to do shit for them, or you just have another score on the board for followers/connections

No. Never again.

I had a bad experience with this before. Coworkers snitching on everything you do in your personal life. Things that aren't even related to work or impact your work. Anything for them to climb the corporate ladder.

Keep work and your personal life separate.

It depends. If you can trust the person not to snitch on you when you’re posting pictures of yourself on the beach while you’re actually supposed to be at home because you called in sick. Other than that, I see no issues.

Well, only if you genuinely want to date someone which for some reason has never happened to me.
