AI is impressive because we’ve failed at semantic web and personal computing

There was a lot of truth in what he wrote, might be why G is trying to use AI in their Search now.

Yeah totally agree.

Did say tho at Google ai failed but that will only change.

I thought was a really interesting take on the subject. Never thought of it like that before.

I'm not going to talk about AI in it's entirety as it's too vast, but regarding it's use to essentially 'fast track' indexing, although I agree with it in principle, i'm going to be a bit skeptical here and say if not the intent from the start, that it's at least already being 'misused' for bias to some extent. Many big sites with heavy user engagement, namely social media sites, already have their own AI partnerships. But if we're defining objectivity; high quality information here as: facts supported by evidence, why are they using and even paying such sites as datasets, even though many have been and still are notorious for strong sociopolitical bias and even largely being used as platforms for bot farms? So although it's agreeable in principle, there's just way too much handwaiviness regarding it's use at this stage to be certain it's going to be used to recreate or enhance any research and queries objectively as the 'old way' did and not just totally skew off on to their own biased tangents instead.

Course it's being misused. Everything from the dawn of time has been.

What we have have access to is no doubt a basic level of what's actually already around and being used behind closed doors. Musk like or hate him, I figure his orginal scare and worry about AI is because of what he has / had access to and has seen that the average Joe can't.

Research has always been skewed and based off a bias. There is, will and has and always be some political, personal, economic or other motive to skew any kind of research.

Dunno if you remember the whole "hole in the ozone" and using spray cans and leaving the fridge open was bad and we only had a few years left. Where did that hole go?

Same as CO2 depending on the science it's either good for the planet or it's not. It's just down to funding which comes first..

AI is going to the same.

I'm very pro it for business. My daily life, day to day, meh much like social media. I'm happy in my own world.
