I’m a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon where I build production machine learning systems. And I don’t write code anymore.

AI writes virtually every line I commit.
and this is why amazon along with microsoft and other company where they laid off a shit ton of employees in favor for AI agents only are massively retarded.
You still need talented people to pilot those AI.

i'll put it this way
how the fuck, are you meant to verify code? debug code? quality check code, or even just read the god damn code if you can't code.
How can you validate the documentation AI gives you if you can't even verify that's what your pipeline actually do?
Retarded writer, retarded amazon employee
amazon should find who this dumbfuck is and fire them.

I'll put it in easier words
You, an applied scientist can ONLY see it that way, because, you understand what AI is giving back to you.
You don't need to necessary write code, but you sure as hell, tweak it, or even touch up on it or build from it.
Ain't no way you pushing an AI-generated code into production without any QA. Maybe an indie company, but not Amazon.

Now, that means, is it still too late to learn code?
No, you only see that it's meaningless for you to learn it if AI can do it, but AI isn't perfect. It's fucking retarded 98% the time.

The problem is companies want everything for free or cheap at best. If AI wasn't so cheap there wouldn't be AI boom in the first place. So while yes, there are some use cases and yes, it's revolutionary technology it'd NEVER cause the kind of job market disruption it does right now if it weren't cheaper than people.

Hold your horses, keep calm and learn civil engineering or something less but physical. AI ain't gonna replace $5 per day workers, nobody cares about $5. ;) Go frugal and chill out.

Call me crazy, but I picture a world where every single job is replaced by AI, humans lose their sense of purpose in life, and everyone becomes depressed. If everyone is replaced by AI, who will pay for its services when no one has money?

The currency for AI is electricity and charity.

It'll be programmed for empathy by less selfish people. ;)

I don't have a job. I'm not depressed. Go figure. You can provide value to people and the world without job and even without money. Abstract, but that's what it is!

Sure, but that is your thing. I know tons of people who get their passion from working and feel like they contribute something to the world that way. If they lose that, they will have a hard time adapting.

If I were deep into the adrenaline of underground commerce, I would struggle immensely if that were removed. It happened to me in the past, so I learned to not obsess about things like work I'm passionate about and just keep cool head.

Now they got bots to review code like cowork. So now, the real question is who will review the reviewed code?
Remaining few people who had experience before ai will come in when things will brake up and ai can't fix them anymore

Yup, I can't get my head around people not realizing that these robot dogs, delivery robots on the paths, and the robotic arms thatve been around since 1982 are actually that technical with vision and understanding

Sales sales sales, if you can handle a bad week in a row

Will I f*ck be sold by a robot, unless it's cool enough to sell itself
