There was a discussion thread the other day about managed versus unmanaged hosting.

You see, I've been setting up the new VPS for the forum, and it is like a night and day difference. The current web host is managed, and they handle all of the security updates, operating system management, patches, etc. If there's an issue, it's on them to fix it.

But this unmanaged VPS? Well, look, I've used Linux before as I have Ubuntu on my Raspberry Pi, but doing all of this stuff through what is essentially the command prompt on a web server is just miserable.

I am so tired of typing in wget, apt, sudo, sudo -i for root access, ping this, ping that, apt, sudo, apt, systemctl, apt, wget, one typo and the whole line doesn't work, sudo again.

Did I say APT!?

I even had to set up the nameservers for the networking...

Anyway, I finally got the control panel for it working. Maybe I'll keep posting about my dip into the wonderful world of unmanaged VPS' later.

I read the headline and though you had a stroke..
