Hello Fellow OO Members,

Last night I received a permanent ban from BHW over sharing some memes and roasting one of the mods with memes.

I hope same does not happen here, memes are meant to be enjoyed and not taken personally.

The meme that got me banned:

Thank you

Just be respectful.. I didn't see the thread on BHW but as long as it doesn't become mod abuse or in bad taste you should probably be fine on OO.

Sigh... as a former BHW mod, I've seen it so many times people being absolute pricks in DM or on the IRC, demanding service reviews, getting angry when you're not bending backwards to resolve their issue immediately, etc, etc. Then when they finally take it public and continue to be dicks, you ban them, and an alt pops up crying they did nothing wrong and/or it was only a one-time thing. I'm not saying this is you OP, but in the old BHW days none of that shit was tolerated, I was FAR FAR more lenient with people than the old school pre-DD mods & admins I learned from, the sword came down quick and hard with those guys. It was DD when he came onboard that told the old crew to dial it back and not ban so quickly. Now if you were genuinely banned for posting a single meme aimed at a mod out of jest, then sure that is silly, but 9/10 times I've seen that isn't always the full picture.

You have been banned for not listening to mod warnings. They asked to not spam and merge your memes into single posts which you kept doing after multiple mod messages and that eventually got you banned.

Stupid reason for banning a 2 years old account with 5 positive feedbacks and 2k+ reaction score. They don't care who you are. If you irritate them the slightest, they chop your head off.

Is SettingSun77 BTB's gf or something?

I go over for a gander after ages and this is literally the first post I see from a long time member:

'reporting all these AI replies won't solve the problem, as moderators always respond and advise in such threads.

i ve not been here for around 2 years till February and now i have an impression that 90% of ALL content excepting Marketplace is generic stupid AI.
bots asking, bots replying'

Is it really that bad there now?

Thanks man, hell with them.

She told me to give a 2 min gap before posting, which I did. Not sure, what happened after that.

For sure, they bangin.

Yes, it is really bad. If you ask for a genuine query, most of the answers are AI.

I've seen people getting banned for ridiculous reasons.

A friend of mine (whom I recommended to join that shitty place) was banned for asking for a couple of trials in the marketplace.
He was indeed a new member and maybe this is the reason but had only made about 2-3 posts before he got banned.

Reason: Spam

It's getting ridiculous. You can't do anything or say anything without receiving a warning or getting banned.

Imagine how confused new members must feel when navigating the forum!

I just spent a while 'catching up' on that site. It doesn't seem anything has really changed since when I was a member. Still tonnes of spam, crappy english (use a translator ffs), scamming still seems to be through the roof - did they even go anywhere with the marketplace upgrade? And now there is some system magical system in the works that will apparently do away with AI bot spam. Just reads as: 'we will fine tune our bots so it's not so obvious' to me. This is just a bit of constructive criticism. No disrespect. But seem to be all talk so far.

All seems like window dressing. Wonder if they are planning to sell.
If they're trying to sell, they're doing a terrible job because the forum is getting worse every day. Traffic is declining massively and it's filled with AI bots...

I bet that if they ever try to sell, they'll set an insane asking price just because of the site's history and brand name, even though it's basically dead now.

Maybe selling would be for the best since they're all old heads, and it could allow younger, more passionate people to take over.

However, if they do sell, I doubt it will end up in the right hands anyway, because that's just how it is.

Too late to sell though imho. Everyone is botting to make their site look bigger than it is. They also seem to be losing rankings even to SEO tools pushing their own blog and knowledgebases pages. And there is no real incentive for anyone that isn't selling or astroturfing for marketplace gigs to even be there. Treating members like crap isn't exactly the way forward. If the seemingly countless stories of people talking about unfair banning and treatment, and abuse of power are true, might just be the crappy moderating and poor administrative decisions catching up with them.

As I mentioned in my previous threads, they are overestimating the community aspect, which is largely inactive and filled AI slop.

In reality, the primary reason people continue to go there is the marketplace.

However, that aspect is also declining due to the recent decisions and treating both buyers and sellers like shit.

As you said no reason/incentive to be there anymore.

Sure, maybe once in a while a couple of new people will stick around despite all the power abuse and the rules that seem to be against everyone and everything.

But can the forum survive long-term with just those few? I don’t think so.

Even some established sellers who have been there for a long time take 24 to 48 hours to reply to a private message, which indicates that they aren’t checking in as often as they used to.
