Some shops like Kohls and Target are doing variable pricing. So they make customers download an app to scan a code on merch and the pricing is determined based on an algorithm. Different pricing for different people.

Seems kind of F’d to me but idk but do my bros think?

Never heard of it.

I wouldn't want to be their client tho.

I do it and I have a client that does that algorithmic as well. Works very nicely.

I do it in a more old school fashion, of course, but doing it automatically is very effective, assuming the algo doesn't fuck up.

May be that algorithm based on different criteria too.. Just like so many apps having.. If you need normal things.. price is different even state or country wise too.

Most hotel and flight booking have this.

They have had it for a long time

Here i buy vouchers and specific credits cards for specific brands to maximize discounts. I save an average of 10% on purchases this way. Can be done on electronics, restaurants, super markets, apparel stores etc

But does this mean. You are able to hunt coupons online, buy vouchers at a discounted price or use specific credit cards to maximize discounts then it's good. If it's just random algorithm then it's bad.

This isn't anything new. Most booking companies, flights, hotels, travel, cars etc. Will adjust prices based on how old your phone is, OS, laptop or the device you are browsing off.

The newer the device the more of a premium they add because you fall into a category that is considered to have "wealth" obviously the whole leasing concept has backfired on that, but this has been around for the last 20 years.

I've always been surprised it's never been exposed or caught on really because some of the margins they used to increase prices.

I've not seen recent big marketing packs in the last decade so things have no doubt changed and moved on since then.
