Declined Chat/Shoutbox for the forum

I really like this idea of having a little chat or shoutbox that can be used to chit-chat around. As it won't be used for any lengthy topics it also would most likely not have a negative effect on the forums thread count.

Typing post by post ( forum) makes you more aware on what you have to typ since you just have the one chance. instead of randomly blabbing ( 1-3 words at a time, like you would through a chat)

I kinda like the chats around the GE

I also like having a chat on OO.

Indeed, but i think we can minimize this by only allowing certain people to chat. (Once you reach 100 posts and/or have Sapphire Badge).

We'll look into this -- I'm not 100% certain it's something we can implement, but it would be nice. There is a lot that would have to be considered, such as how it could be abused and how intensive it would be for the forum to run it.

Either myself or @Zwielicht will post back in here when we have a better answer.

I hope you don't mind, I actually just moved the other thread into this one. It helps me keep track of what suggestions have the most support from others in the community.

Can you moderate the chat as in, keep people from promoting in it ( automated), if that were the case it would be quite good, just to see what people are currently doing, ask for help on a one off basis instead of having to create a Thread and wait.

It is a challenge in terms of moderation. An idea would be to allow only certain people to use the chat/shoutbox. That would be either people who have reached a certain number of posts or a certain rank (Sapphire, etc.).

I'm really distracted by how similarly Siropu's logo there looks like my old company logo from 2013.

It's not exactly the same as the spacing is different, but it's even sort of got the colouring and the uneven look from when I sloppily made the crescents. Hmm...

Whatever, the newer logo I made several years back is way better than the old one.

Anyway, I think this is something we're going to have to decline at this time since we won't have the coverage necessary to moderate this. Maybe once we have more moderators trained up, it could be a fun feature to have on the site, though.
