Living in Sweden, summer is usually great .. except for the fact that the forests and lakes mean we get absolutely swarmed by mosquitoes. Since window screens aren't really a standard thing here, my apartment turns into an all-you-can-eat buffet the second I open a window for some fresh air. I’m so incredibly sick of smelling like djungelolja (jungle oil) or slapping myself in the face at 3 AM.

Then I found this startup called Tornyol. They are making a 40-gram autonomous micro-drone that literally hunts mosquitoes. It uses built-in smartphone microphones and ultrasonic sonar (like the sensors that help cars park) to listen for the specific wingbeat pattern of a mosquito, tracks it down, and rams it out of the air. No chemicals, no toxic sprays, just a tiny robotic air defense system patrolling the room 24/7.

Tell me I’m not crazy for wanting a miniature automated drone swarm patrolling my bedroom.

To bad it is a whooping $1100 a piece, a swarm with 5-6 would cost an arm and a leg FFS.

Like, beyond being noisy as well (which I assume it needs to be), and beyond needing to sleep next to a $1100 drone that can potentially get stuck in your beard, it solves a problem a simple net solves.
You can probably buy that from Amazon even if it isn't that popular there (and why isn't it more popular, by the way?)
