Yeah yeah yeah this is the IM section didn't know where else to post this and this seemed like the best place.

So do any of you still do offline marketing? Flyers or leaving business cards anywhere? I know people still do it cause I see business cards in stores but what I want to know is if any of YOU still do it.

If not then you're missing out on a possible easy way to market yourself.

This is the right place.

Yes we do offline marketing. Flyers in with orders, Sponsorships, Mailouts to businesses.

I used to with my business cards, although I haven’t done this in years. Businesses local to me still leave their cards in relevant locations, like on the sides of EV chargers. Those businesses offer home EV charger installations for EV owners who get frustrated waiting in lines.

Yeah business cards, posters, encourage word of mouth if that is counted as offline marketing

Have actually been working to have something to traditionally market

I’ve never done it myself mainly because I don’t have a business that might really need it or at least that’s what I think : )

But it’s something my brother does... he gives out customized items to people and stuffs like that

Would you say adding a scan code in places for people to scan... leading them to his service page also counts as offline marketing? He does that too.

The scan code is usually also on some of the items he shares

My dog sitting business is all just word of mouth if you count that!

I tried to sponsor an event once but the process ended up being so tedious and annoying that I decided to give up. Kinda regret I didn't push through. I should give it another shot at some point, but I'm already doing too many things and my shiney object syndrome needs a rest.

I spend about £15,000 a year on sponsorships I've had 2 people come and buy off me as a result but I've made loads of contacts and it gets the brand out there.

It's win win, for me it's a tax thing also I can write it off and I get free entry into events (pending what I sponsor!)

Yeah I agree.. I need to pick and choose events because I have a very limited capacity but I agree that this is something I have to do at some point, might as well do it now so I enjoy the fruits for longer..

Yeah we are big ice hockey fans so I sponsor there in order to get tickets what the company pays is almost the same as 4 x season passes so works out about right.. That's my biggest perk there and the only thing that caused it was my son is a little bit shy and when we took him to his first hockey game, the way he came out of his shell shouting, cheering, and just getting involved with the whole experience I loved it. So I wanted more of that for him.

The rest goes on local teams (which I've expanded this year to include rugby & football) I semi joking compete with another firm on what we can get our name on so wherever they tend to sponsor I do it also its a running local joke between employees and few of the locals we all drink with.

There's things close to me I help out with then martial art teams and squads, providing kits, help with transport to compete outside of the UK and so on.

Very cool..
My girl is pretty loud, maybe I'll sponsor a Vivaldi concert..

Joking aside, I do need to to get back to it. Look at some conventions related to the types of clients I want to acquire.

Probably try to avoid ones with free passes because I don't do too well on long flights, but surely popping my logo and tagline there will get me enough business even without needing to actually go there and shake hands.

TBH I think business sponsor its rare to get anything from it.

I think it's more of a vanity / ego thing. Maybe different if your a sports drink, car manufacture or food company.
The rest of the time I think it's hard going.

Although some places like the hockey they do put on sponsors nights to network meet people and so on, I've had a few enquiries about things I can offer but no follow through, most people there WANT your business rather than OFFER you something..

I do the martial arts one just to help out people who can't afford to travel or get kit I don't even do a logo or anything only time I'm mentioned is the presentation night once a year and that's it. Its more a case of I put money in a fund to help those who are less fortunate I know how hard it is to self fund - its probably the only selfless thing I do! lol
