Linkedin Do Linkedin connections matter?

I always get connection requests on linkedin from randos and i always reject those.

These days though I was thinking if it would make me look better on Linkedin to get that 500+ connections thingy on my profile.

Does anyone know if it helps?

I'll share my experience with this: I've gotten those connection requests as well. I actually always accept them just to get closer to having 500+ connections.

Really, I haven't seen much of a real benefit from it other than the fact that I'm getting more connection requests now than I did before.

A lot of them are just people trying to sell me links or guest posts, which I'm not interested in buying from random people on Linkedin.

What I was more hoping for was exposure and recruiters reaching out to me as I read about this happening to others. However, it doesn't appear to be the case for me.

I see them as bots or spam really.
I don't accept people I don't know unless their profile actually looks decent, and we have people (I actually know) in common.

Yes, initially I accepted all connection request on LinkedIn..

Later, recognized it as spam / bot and no real benefits ..

I don't think it matters, I rather have a close connected group that I know than 100s of Randoms I will never interact with.

It's beyond the 500+ connections. I fin'd it a lot easier to message someone who's a 2nd generation from me than someone who's 3+.

Increasing the number of "beneficial" connections is pretty important IMO.

I'm leveraging my LinkedIn profile for an upcoming SaaS project. To build the right network, I am connecting with professionals in this niche and sending around 10 connection requests daily. Since I target users with at least 1 to 2 mutual connections, my acceptance rate is around 50 to 60%.

Over the next few months, my focus will be on engaging with their content and building genuine relationships. I am not looking to sell anything, just to have meaningful conversations. These connections are my future client prospects, and I want to establish trust before anything else.
