Do you have a coach? Therapist? Someone like this?

A great coach or therapist will tell you what you need at the right time.

Constructive, critical feedback is powerful! And what's interesting, it feels like sugar and it's so soft compared to reading some hard business books.

You can work out a framework with them to make decisions that are fully aligned with you, your business or whatever you want.

If they're good, it's not some bullshit you find on youtube! Actually youtube gurus are dangerous... they sometimes work like cults more than coaches and of course charge absurd amounts to talk with you for 15 minutes. I consider a lot of youtube self-help niche highly unethical, but that's just my experience. Too much snake-oil.

I first got court ordered to see somone.

It took me a while to find the right person to speak to. I tried group and I wanted to kill everyone there.

My therapist recently retired so I'm back on the hunt.

I used to speak to someone monthly but now it's every 6 months or so and I recommend it to anyone.

I used to be ashamed of it. But no more. It's helped with alot of things but finding the right person is key also.

So I have had anxiety issues since more than 20 years and it was all self diagnosis till date but just a few days ago I took counselling and the tablets have definitely helped me because I have suppressed so many things and btw too much overthinking and 3 hours of sleep only for 15 fucking years just imagine how my thinking has reduced as I haven't been able to use my brain to its maximum potential

Na I had therapists but they didn't help me much.

Might just be that I'm too stubborn for therapy lol

Not everyone needs it.

Some people are so twisted in their minds, they can't function without therapy.

I, for example, simply cannot get off my bed if I don't do therapeutic exercise in my mind.

And I can't function without therapeutic exercises later in the day.

Simply my brain is filled with metaphorical glue since I was born. I have to unglue it everyday.

Thanks to it life feels worth living. If your life already feels like worth living, maybe you're already good.

These services have the biggest impact on people with personality disorders and mental illness.

I do.

A therapist I go to once a month who helps me sort out why I feel certain ways, usually negative about things in my life.

I always recommend it to anyone who struggles to figure this stuff out for themselves.

So true were you doing self diagnosis before seeing a therapist or you made it on time?

Be very careful with coaches, even some licensed therapists. Not every coach has your best interests at heart, and some follow outdated principles that may end up hurting you more than helping.

Indeed, risky stuff. Still, better than reading books and listening to YouTube twisted people.

I like to read a book with someone.
Livin alone got me tryin' all the things, but results weren't good at all.

I have a couch that turns into a bed :D

I pray and listen to Music for therapy or walk sometimes
Yeah, it's good, but you can get lost in it... if you are predisposed. For real crazies, there's no chance to tell difference between delusion and reality. I better have someone observe it.

Having a therapist is a luxury here where I live (post soviet). They charge stupidly much. Like $1k per hour or something. I prefer letting my brain figure it out itself lol

Depends on depth of problems. I can't go full solo. So many stupid things come to my mind. :P Someone needs to look at it closer, so I don't make big mess.

What is an example of outdated principle? :P

Everyone is wrong. If they don't seem to care, just change until you find one who brings the joy!

I've been to three. Only one was worth going to. It gave me this broad perspective on everything... and tools I didn't know could exist. It simply makes me happy 300% and all those fear-driven barriers dissolve.

I loved therapy, could you imagine how much bitching I done before I was swindled into man'ing up a slight bit

Still a woman but still

Realistically @Dopious has been doing a better job than any coach can do, consistently and over 6 years

Any? Not any.

That's a thinking error.

You need a group of beautiful people. Not idealize one or another person.

Although I like to idealize people. Feels good. But comparing them creates pain!

They are people. Not monster energy drinks for which you can create a tier list.

I'm an energy vampire. Something is wrong. I can't use emojis. What happened!

Edit:  Fixed it. I got paranoid admin disabled it for me. Meanwhile I clicked something and it was my fault. This PHP forum has these weird features...

I'm overheating again. Need to apply more Dopious slow down approach.

A big outdated principle some therapists still lean on is the idea that “venting” anger helps release it, when research often shows it can actually reinforce anger patterns instead of resolving them.
