Some days I wish I could start one myself even if just for my own sites. Given how most ISPs limit upload speeds it’s not really a backyard business kind of thing.

You can cohost your own servers in a data center, not that expensive. Called colocation.

College class mate started his own hosting 15 years ago.
He had a 500GB HDD, ran and rented 5GB storage for €8/month.

I was not into marketing/Online work, so didn't get it at all.
