White Hat SEO Does the domain renewal date really affect SEO?

I heard about it a couple of times and decided I might as well do it, because this is one of those domains I'll never let expire, so I might as well.

The question is whether anyone here has checked and seen any effect on SEO from a long expiration date versus the regular year-to-year renewal.


I know this is domain related, but the reason it's here rather than in the domains section is that is essentially an SEO question. Not much different than a DR or a DA related question which is also domain-centric.

Personally nope.

Our domain I register in 5 or 10 year blocks because I cant be arsed with what seems constant renewal reminders.

I don't think its made a difference

Yeah this is something I thought so as well, but someone like you, for example, that deals with a butt load of domain could've maybe spotted a pattern if there was one (assuming some of the domains have a live website).

I stopped caring frankly. The updates are so frequent and erratic, that getting some actual data or let alone doing some case studies for small SEO signals is basically impossible. In this sense the SEO is well and truly dead in my book.

I agree even thougb I still use traditional SEO as a foundation because quite frankly with GEO I just don't even know where to start

Not sure how you could check for this as there are too many variables involved, but this I've heard about this theory many times in the past....If it makes you enough money, you could get the domain for longer, just to be sure

Yeh, just apply the basic principles which have been working for ages and rest is random number generator.
