Google has introduced a new dictation app called AI Edge Eloquent . The app can be seen as Google's equivalent of Wispr . Users should be able to speak in their best language and get a cleanly written (and sometimes rewritten ) text.

Local models are used to convert speech to text – nothing leaves the device. Users can add their own words to the dictionary, so those words are not corrected. Google points out that Eloquent neither requires a subscription nor limits how much the app can be used, which can be seen as a jab at Wispr.

Currently, the app is only available for iOS, but an FAQ mentions that Google plans to bring Eloquent to more platforms, including desktop.

Nice, not available in my region yet though. Will 100% get it when it is.

RIP Wispr

This just shows the traps of marketing they perform en masse.

Galaxy phone? Mess. Pixel phone? Bigger mess. Iphone? Yes. Why? Because it's just perfect in every detail! They're aware of their own flaws. America!!?

Edit: This tech just saved me an hour of writing.
