Google has introduced a new dictation app called AI Edge Eloquent . The app can be seen as Google's equivalent of Wispr . Users should be able to speak in their best language and get a cleanly written (and sometimes rewritten ) text.
Local models are used to convert speech to text – nothing leaves the device. Users can add their own words to the dictionary, so those words are not corrected. Google points out that Eloquent neither requires a subscription nor limits how much the app can be used, which can be seen as a jab at Wispr.
Currently, the app is only available for iOS, but an FAQ mentions that Google plans to bring Eloquent to more platforms, including desktop.
