In my intro here, I mentioned me and my husband run an Etsy shop.

Part of the frustration with running an Etsy shop is that it can be really, really frustrating competing with resellers.

Etsy used to be a place where people sold handmade goods but now it's overwhelmed with reseller stuff from TEMU.

In this guide, I'll be showing all of you what strategies I use to combat this.

Tip #1 - Show Your Workspace
These reseller shops never actually show their workspace because they don't have one. This is an advantage you have if you offer handmade goods, so be sure to show off your workspace!

Tip #2 - Be A Person, Not A Business
If you're looking for handmade goods, express your individuality in them. Customers on Etsy are still expecting handmade goods so you can really stand out by showing that they're buying from a person and not a faceless business.

What I'm saying is consider putting your face on your profile.

Tip #3 - Make It A Little Amateur
One thing I noticed with all of these Etsy reseller shops is that all of them have the same pseudo professional looking photos.

Instead of going more professional with your photos

Tip #4 - Report Non Handmade Goods
Ok maybe some of you might think this is messed up but don't think for one second that your competitors don't try this with you.

Etsy doesn't always act when you flag something as not being handmade but I have had some success with this.

Still though it's better to focus on your own shop but if when doing competitor research you have a free minute then try flagging false products that you see.

Pinterest is perfect for driving traffic to your Etsy especially if you’re dealing with art prints

I helped a client with optimization on both a couple of months ago and that really made me understand how well the two work together : )
