We don't have visitors very often, so I thought it would be fun to share it with all of you.

Now, allow me to introduce you to the end of my creepy hallway:

I know, I know, it's a lot to take in. WTF is that painting, am I right? What's with the squares and diamonds?

Allow me to give you the tour you didn't ask for.

The Painting & Shrine

No, I'm not a cultist, but I do love the first Silent Hill game. For my birthday one year, my wife got me a painting featured in that game. It was so nice that I put a frame around it and put it at the end of the hallway. It really creeps people out.

The shrine bit of that was just something I set up to give it more of a ritualistic feel. You can see I lit some incense before taking the picture as well because there's an incense holder there.

The Door Coverings
These are on every interior door in the house. The doors are thin, so sound travels through them much more than I'm comfortable with. Those coverings help reduce the sound that gets through.

The Diamonds & Squares
These are acoustic panels. Normally, someone would cover a wall in these, but I use them as a sort of functional decoration around the house.

I have very sensitive hearing, and having these around the hallway reduces reverberations just enough to make things comfortable. You can't see it in the picture, but there are dozens of these around the rest of the hallway covering the walls and cabinet doors.

Paintings
Aside from the main painting, the rest are ones @Impulse and I did when we started getting into painting.

The Rest of The Decor
Just some cheap stuff I got Hobby Lobby. There's not a lot to comment on here, but I do occasionally bump into that bear piece

Cat Food & Water Bowl
Only the best for our cat! It's a filtered water bowl with a flowing fountain and an automatic food bowl that goes off 4 times a day, as the cat likes to eat at specific hours.

That is all! I just wanted to share this. :)

Have you tried foam based earplugs? I do have an highly sensitive hearing and I am using even during the night when things are quiet around.

I love the coziness and hat you imprinted your character in the house.

Yes! I use those as well, although @Impulse got me these really good reusable ones for my birthday this year.

It's still not enough, if you can believe it. We have parrots as well, but they're not too bad in terms of noise most of the time, especially when they sleep at night (although we sleep during the day sometimes when they're noisy). It's things like electrical hissing from the TV, the refrigerator condenser, air getting sucked through the intake vent because the grate hole wasn't made large enough, and the ceiling fan in the living room (any fan, really). I redid the insulation all over the house because even noises from outside in my neighbour's yards like their HVAC units were driving me nuts from inside my own home.

I love the coziness and hat you imprinted your character in the house.
I might post more stuff about our home later. Like I said, we don't get visitors often, so it's kind of nice being able to share what we've done with our home.

It's still not enough,

I feel you, I have the same thing. I found these to be highly efficient, and I bought a few hundreds pair. One pair I can use it for 1 week. I've tried countless types, and even oranges like these, till I found the perfect ones. These are perfect. I am using when I go to long rides with my motorcycle, they are pretty good there too.

A few years back I rent an attic and I live there for 2 solid years. It was a nightmare because I had a line of trees in front of my windows and every morning at 3-4AM (literally when I go to sleep) there was a hoarde of 3-400 crows that started to caw, The sounds was infernal, and lasted every day 3-4h. Already got insane from it. I've tried to do everything to get rid of it. I fed them meat with chlorine, that didn't do anything, I think I boosted their immune system more, I've bought a huge set of speakers and started to play hawk sounds thinking they get spooked. They didn't, in fact become even louder, I tried to buy a pair of hawks and nearly got myself indicted since in my country is illegal to buy and have as pets hawks, or any type of these birds. I had a neighbor that had a long stick 5-6m long and we "hush" them every day.

In the end I found these bad boys and I could sleep but the damage was done I am damaged for life :D:D:D

In the end the county council decided to cut down the trees and removed them from there, but it was a hell of a battle.

Please do, forum feels very homely with admins virtually inviting us to their place.

That is exactly the point! I went for creepy with it. ;)

Well, yeah. We have a lot of pets, and all of the enclosures are essentially automated. The lights are all plugged into outlets with timers that go off at 8PM each during and turn back on around 6AM every morning, everything has large reserves of filtered water, and some of them even have bioactive enclosures with insects that reproduce as fast as they can eat them, so cleaning is minimal and feeding is to some extent as well.

Will do! :)

Good for dealing with burglars too. They'll look around and think it's safer to run away. xD

Whoa! That's some serious automation there.

All that noise sounds like a nightmare to me.

Out of curiosity, where did you buy hawks from? Asking for a friend. :D

Those were the kind of earplugs I was using before as well. They have the highest NRR and I used them for years. They were kind of expensive though even though I reused them (you're not supposed to, but I'm not made of money here and I need them to sleep).

I'm glad to talk to someone with this problem as well! A lot of people don't understand what it's like and some people just say, "I wish I could hear things that well!" Like, sure, I can hear very well, but it's not fun in the slightest.

That was kind of my thought about it as well, but the few times we have people over, they just comment on our house feeling cozy. One day, we might just wake up and find a burglar napping on our couch or something. :ROFLMAO:

Can't remember the place exactly but it was 2 orders from Turkey amd Kazakstan :D

Customs told me that they never had that situation in 20 yrs or so. They reversed the order and the birds were not sent in the first place.

Yeah, reusing them too, I don't care what they say, it's pure marketing if you ask me.

I don't even explain myself anymore. It is what it is, I have my sleep hygiene and rest diesn't matter anymore.

Leave a sign: You can sleep on the sofa bad beware of the pytons, they get cranxy if you step on them.

That’s crazy! I heard about people ordering them online, but I never talked to anyone who tried.

There’s a site for a business over in Florida called Underground Reptiles. They sell a lot of wild caught animals, but the animals they list are really out there. Kinkajous, marmosets, and fennec foxes. I don’t know how they’re selling those as I don’t even think it’s legal there, but some people buy them apparently.

I always saw it as more of a hygiene thing, although I will say I’ve never had any issues doing this in the last decade.

Yeah, it’s one of those things you can’t tell people about generally as not many understand. Some even think you’re exaggerating.

A big Bengal cat, too. My cat scares people, especially because she growls like a dog.

It was more tahn 10 yrs ago, so I don't know if that is possible now.

I have a small pouch and I keep it there and also I am usong some semi wet wipes to clean it after each use.

I really haven't met yet a person that doesn't have an unusual habit, so I don't think much of it.

Pfff, those are nice too. Isn't she attacking the parrots?
