Do we need threads about war, politics or whatever to be highlighted?

Regardless of the interaction on that thread.

Should it be highlighted as a top post, newlesletter post or whatever?

Personally (yes, it's me) I don't think we need to promote war topicszor anything else of that nature if it's semi taboo. It's a marketing forum.

I think highlighted posts should be reserved as such. Fuck what goes on in the world around us.

There's a lot of drama in this little ol' thread. I see that this got heated but the personal insults were unnecessary. It's a shame that we lost two members over this.

I'm sure some topics got mentioned where limited to plat because they can offended people?.. Or did I miss read that elsewhere

I just don't get why it's an acceptable topic to highlight.

Don't care who made it. Me Roydan, dopisus, silver whoever don't think it's a topic that need to be highlighted.

That's just me
I didn't mean to upset you with my response, but it is the standard way that we handle feedback threads. There is nothing personal against you about it, if you are concerned about that.

We do regularly get 7 upvotes on popular suggestions in this section - you've even received 4 already. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that 7 should come along soon.

But the way this thread went was sad. I was one of those who was worried when I saw what was happening the 197mustang. I think he was being very harsh here but I think he was right about most things. Then I see Dopious is there liking his posts again. Mayebe I'm wrong but it just seems like these two conspire whenever they don't like someone or something and then do... this.
Well, you are very wrong if you think so, I was though asking both @t2van and @Rem in a group DM about the highlighted thread, but that was earlier and not related to anything other. I do agree with @t2van about the topic on this thread that was why I liked his post, so hold on to your conspiration theories as they are certainly not valid in this thread.

I agree... and to be honest I wouldn't have put that war thread into the newsletter either, regardless of my views on things there - it's a touchy subject and some replies could piss off certain people, not ideal in a newsletter attached to what is essentially a marketing forum (I actually would be leaning toward avoiding Saloon threads completely, maybe one if it's funny), that's just my opinion.

@Impulse I got nothing against you or @Zwielicht

hope you both know that.

I said and Im honest im blunt and and asshole.

Sorry you lost two members its fucking pathetic.

I just dont agree with the whole thing thats all. Made my point and then some. Leave it with the forum gods.

This thread needs some of that good old board of orgy directors, wheres that dude at?

At least get a few dozen warnings and a couple of actual bans under your belts first (ffs guys lol) before throwing your account away perma, that's what I do.

How are some people's first port of call to any form of critcism or conflict to ask for a perma ban? Like the third guy i've seen that's done that. Jesus f'in christ. With all due respect, how must these people deal with workplace and real world pressures?!? 🥴 Need to grow up a bit

As for this topic. Maybe add a caution tag if it's a controversial topic like: ! Caution Controversial topic: [topic name] and/or [keywords]. Then anyone who might get offended or no they get offended will knos steaight asay it's not for them. Best of both worlds.

Since most of the agro is Saloon related maybe split in to two distinct boards: one for 'sensible', 'intellectual' discussion. And one for controversial topics and anyone in the mood to 'fight' I don't think i'd make the latter visible to public until thry signed up 😂. But hey, in this case, it would not be about quality or seo but the forums dramas. Some people love that, I think it's part if what made old school forums the way they are. But just one place for it and all the controversial off topic stuff since we don't have flame wars across the entire forum. Strict penalites for people that don't follow as it is technically a business forum at the end of the day.

It legit is, I’ve always thought that and seen it happen elsewhere… when a forum gets too strict or people become like little cry babies so start grassing other members up because they can’t take a bit of stick then a place loses its edge, if you can’t take the heat then stay out of the kitchen smh

I think it's important to have discussions on global news on this forum, but it's probably for the best to not have it featured or highlighted as it might give the wrong impression to people. It gets my upvote.

The... arguments on here were interesting, to say the least. I'm really surprised that people asked to be banned. You could never get me to leave just because of someone being argumentative.

But it's a shame as this forum really needs more active members, not less. And if I'm being honest, there are a members on here who feel very cliquey and that gives a bad impression to members outside of their group of friends. It happens on forums and other online communities all too often, sadly.

Agree

Yes I agree.

But as most come from another location there are and always will be people who have friendships that span across. Nothing is cliquey it might come off like that on times due to the user base and regular posting and who agrees with who and who does not.

I'm pretty sure there is a t2van is a twat group and thos that think im not or worse a subsection who is split between the middle.

I think its a tough one.

Apparently, Two of them gone now. In the space of about 30 mins.

Aye it’s them I was talking about 😂 hopefully they come back, no need to throw the baby out with the bath water ffs

Train-wreck of a discussion if I've ever seen one.

This has well over the required 7 upvotes, so Saloon threads will no longer be featured in the newsletter or highlighted going forward. Existing Saloon threads that have been highlighted have been unhighlighted. So the war thread and a thread about a "super cute kitten" have been unhighlighted.

The highlights site guide has been updated to mention when threads are highlighted. When it was written up, our highlights feature only worked on individual posts, not threads, so now when threads are highlighted should no longer be a mystery.
Thread highlights are typically only applied to threads that are featured in the newsletter. However, if enough members either submit a support ticket or send in a report requesting for a thread to be highlighted, our moderators may highlight the thread at their discretion.
The moderators already addressed the other questions in this thread.
