how can I make subtitles?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to translate a 10 minute videoclip (which is in English) into Romanian, and then add the Romanian subtitles over that videoclip so that I can share it with my friends and family (who speak Romanian, so they need these subtitles in order to understand that videoclip).

But I've never done this before, so I don't know how to go about doing this... about the "adding subtitles over the video" part I mean, because translating it is the easy part... although, is there a way to download the script for this video so I can have it in front of me before I translate it? It will be easier for me to do it like that instead of pausing the video every 2-3 seconds and then jot the translation down on paper...

Anyway, let me know if there's any (free obviously) software / tool / whatever that can help me complete these tasks quicker and easier.

um, I think I may have found a way... I've been using the software called Shotcut (which is a video editor) for years, but never thought about checking whether it has subtitles (which it does)...

So, I'm trying to make it work with this tool for now, but feel free to post other recommendations if you have them, having options is always good

I used to use Adobe Premiere and add them I n manually but that was for short clips. A 10 minute clip would be tedious to do. It’s also not free but I mean you could probably get it for free if you know what I mean.

I remember reading about a modem fast way of adding subtitles for forgot what it was. If I remember I’ll share it with you bro.

Also, the Mulvad browser (the absolutely ONE AND ONLY true private browser) blocked a malcious script when I accessed their site, so...

yeah, I could pirate it. But I figured out how to add subtitles with Shotcut, which is completely free and which I've gotten used to anyway over the years, so all's good now

probably something based on the fake-ass AI, which I absolutely despise. But feel free to share if you want, maybe others will find these things useful..
