I always wanted to ask this.
But god forbid me from doing so..
As an outl... ok imma stop cuz what i was gonan say next would be as edgy and cringe as what @Zwielicht would say..

So, question
How did COVID spice things up for YOU.
I don't care about the things AROUND you, I wanna know about YOU.

So, i'll start
It was VERY VERY GOOD for me.
I watched alot of people suffer and I felt great about myself...
Wait, that was my inner thoughts
nevermind

Let's try again
It was Very Good, My Day Job shifted to a pure WAH/WFH model (i'mm continue with addressing this as "REMOTE") for me (hehe, i forced it), which gave me alot more time to do things I wanted to do.
Communing to & from work was a god damn pain and super time consuming which remote basically solved for me.
This gave me alot more time working on IM, Crypto, finding real estate to look at without heavily sacrificing my personal life.

I never went out often besides work, so honestly being "stuck" at home all day wasn't an issue.
Although, Australia was prettttttttttttty lax about it most of the time considering that we did seal outside off from the world.
There was lots of GOV related grants that I was able to take advantage of to save money and make money.

While I do admit, most of my benefits were more towards offline rather than online but there is only 24 hours in a day.
Which meant, I didn't have to sacrifice IM for anything else. :)

Okok enough about me, tell me your story.

I am pretty edgy and cringe sometimes. 🤷‍♂️

COVID was pretty nice since the roads were clear and everyone was staying away from me.

Wait.. they're still staying away from me... maybe that wasn't because of COVID...

It wasn't much of a money making opportunity for me, though.

Pretty good, as being stuck indoors all day allowed me to start learning from business books and YouTube videos.

This reminds me of a somewhat relevant story.

I remember about 2 years after COVID I had a genius idea to sell masks on eBay.

I went to a wholesale website here in the UK.

I managed to secure 1000 masks for £50.

5p per mask!!!!!

Bargain.

It ships to my house.

Oh boy, I am gonna be RICH!

I slap them on eBay, use some copywriting and sales psychology strats like urgency/scarcity.

The description looks SLICK.

The title looks like a Mr beast youtube title.

The images look good.

(this was before I knew about ecom sales funnels.)

I hit LIST NOW.

... eBay tells me price gouging isn't allowed on essential items...

Even though COVID was long gone at this point.

So now I have 2 boxes of 500 face masks chilling in my house.

I'm waiting until the next pandemic.

Here is a picture of a box taken a moment ago :/:

I have to say, COVID didn’t shake things up for me the way it did for you @Rem.
I still had to go into work, there was no work at home for me, work didn't change much but just more rules to follow, like masks and distancing, which made it such a hassle.
Public transport got cut back too, so getting there was tougher than before. Sometimes I just had to uber to make it to work on time since buses don't show up making saving money much harder. It left me feeling kind of down, honestly

covid19 didn’t hit me too badly job-wise, I guess.
I did not lose my job & infact was able to pick up more house cleaning gigs too so opportunities kinda popped since everyone stuck home.
Using mask was very annoying but after a year or two, more or less got use to it.

I voted 'Good' in the poll but realised shortly after that I sort of misread your question. I kind of enjoyed COVID because I'm bad at social things, so going outside occasionally and seeing less people around was nice. Although, I didn't like how tense it felt whenever I was outside.

Unfortunately, work kind of became annoying. I had already been WFH for a while then, but since it was a new thing for everyone else that was in the office, suddenly we started needing to do video calls and regular meetings "to stay connected".

I would never get on "video calls".
I always replied with "I don't have a webcam" (lie, it's inbuilt to my work laptop)
The only times was when it's with a super important higher up.
Then kinda had no choice :(

Glad it worked out for you, despite not being "good".

Swear to god, i thought that was a box of feastables lol
& I hate mask, stupid uncomfortable.
Thank god, we rarely had mask restrictions in aussie, once inawhile when some idiot lied about their travel plans and didn't isolate when returning.

@Yes but @Yes
we love you anyways Z

Nothing changed for me!!! The little money I make online stayed like the same haha.

It changed a lot for me for a couple of reasons.
WFH became very common, to even after the big Covid panic was over, I allowed myself more time working from home, so there's that. At some point I decided to make my agency a full time job, meaning I had to start approaching clients.

Zoom replaced face to face meeting, so I was able to do 5 back to back meetings before lunch.

People started to realize that buying online beats going out to purchase stuff - so converting people in e-commerce campaigns became easier, and suddenly the started popping up everywhere - tons of clients.

On the other hand, every idiot kid decided to start their own agency, and they're so cheap because they're clueless, so the competition went up. The higher paying clients are still not falling for these cheap offers because they know that a good agency it worth more than the difference in retainers, but still.
Another thing is that after a potential client leaves a bad or mediocre agency, the impact an experienced agency makes is insane..

So, tons of great things, and one or two meh points = very good.
