I think it depends on your circle. I've seen speakers at SEO conferences get called "masterminds" just because that's how the company running the event referred to them, so the audience thought of them as that as well.

Sometimes, getting added to a mastermind group is enough as well. I've always seen it as one of those titles like "guru" where all you need to have it is just enough people calling you that.
