How to make sure proxies don’t leak your IP?

I was thinking about trying out some new proxies. I usually use a VPN from a trusted company but the proxies I’m looking at are ones I can’t risk leaking my IP at all for reasons.

I usually use Google to search my IP when I connect to the VPN but does anyone know a better way of making sure your IP doesn’t get leaked?
