Income I'm Doing A Yard Sale Today

An older man came by today looking for automotive tools. I actually have a lot of spare ones that I personally don't like, so I let him pick some out. It just was $11, but it really just helps me organise my toolbox better.

Total for the day: $281

Some lady came by and asked how much the unopened Neosporin was. She started waddling off really slowly and drove away immediately?

We've had a lot more people come by, but they either wanted things extremely cheap or just weren't interested in anything we have.

We also have more of a selection today since I found a lot of stuff we had in some boxes in the garage. This is the benefit of cleaning the garage and selling stuff at the same time.

@Zwielicht ha you sound like a brick and mortar guy. :P You never used SMM panels if I remember correctly...

Another lady in an SUV. She bought the pet gate for $5 and a spare tire inflator I had for $5. $10 total.

I'm posting this quickly. I'll probably do an end-of-day summary for those of you who want to know the details.

Total for the day so far: $291

I nearly forgot to mention, another video game collector in a red shirt came by. We set up at 7AM as we got up a little later and I took my sweet time getting ready, but apparently in some yard sale group, someone mentioned we were a no-show. He corrected this for us in the group and we got more people coming by
that is good news, I thought they only did that for antiques sales, making groups etc.

The area where I live is quite strange. When I moved here, it was very much a retirement community. I was actually the only young person who lived here.

Over the years, it's become a more touristy area, but it's also attracted a lot of wealthy youth who are into niche things. The thing is, I didn't know those wealthy youth went to yard sales as well, so this was a nice thing to learn.

A younger man came by. He wasn't too interested in the stuff outside, but I have all the video game stuff in my car boot from the collector who came by earlier. I could tell he was into video games, so I told him there's some video game stuff in the trunk. He looked at it and lit up instantly. @Impulse and I started talking to him about different games and the old transparent GBCs. He asked me how much for the Gameboy Advanced SPs, and I offered both to him for $20.

I know it seems like I'm going low on some of these, but look: he wants to play these. Knowing someone is playing this stuff I used to enjoy back in 2006 means more to me than the money.

I love it. I called myself energy vampire doing something like this. People get something cheaper or for free, but they charge your batteries unknowingly.

How was the racism today I mean yard sale
You want to take a guess?
One lady who stopped by thought $50 for the 8,000 BTU portable A/C that comes with all the accessories was too much. She did not understand this and I explained it in very simple terms: "It can cool down a large room". She said, "Lah-r-ge rOUm?", though about it, and then left. She can burn this summer.

An old man bought some unopened neosporin I had out for $2. I found a whole box of it and figured "why not?"

Lots of old people have asked about it. Conclusion: old people like neosporin?

Total for the day so far: $295

A man came by. Bought the DS Lite and the two Pokemon games for $20.

We sold a Fire Emblem 7 game for $10 and another game for $10. Another $20.

Then we sold an adjustable weight set for $80.

Finally, we sold an old PS2 and some PS3 controllers for $40.

Total for the day $355

Now I'm living up to stereotypes.

There was some extra stuff we sold. A headboard somebody really wanted that we sold for $10, some pet bedding for $7, a t-shirt for $2. Lots of little stuff, I just didn't have a chance to log all of it.

Total for the day: $447
Grand total: $477 in total

Much better than yesterday, but what stood out to me was that a lot of people came by and just talked. It was nice to get to know more of the people around here. Despite living here for so long, we actually don't talk to others very often and just stay home. That's not going to change, but it's good to know who your neighbours are.

Anyway, have that video game collector coming by on Monday as well. Not for a yard sale, but he wants to buy the rest of the stuff I have. Apparently, I had a lot of vintage and valuable stuff. The problem is, it's not mint condition, I have no idea if some of it works, and stuff like the CDs work but have scratches or don't have the complete casing. For instance, I have a PS2 copy of Silent Hill Origins. You see people buying this pre-owned for $150 minimum, but only if it's been polished and tested, but I can't test it and I can't polish it as I don't have that equipment. I mean, I have a PS2, but not the cables for it.

Some other collector didn't want to take it for even $40, but this other one will take it for $50. That's just one game and it doesn't mean that much to me.

Damn bro nice one! I bet you feel pretty good right now with how much you made!

Introversions and other things hit hard. I feel you bro!

No, I feel worse than I did yesterday. We both just still feel miserable.

We started at 7:30AM and stayed out until 1PM. 5 1/2 hours of this and cleaning up the garage.

I cleaned up the garage, but I spent more time selling and having to interact with people than I ordinarily tolerate.

Fewer people come by in the afternoons because it's too hot for everyone. We can tolerate it, but the heat's still not pleasant.

Giving away the game consoles and the games was actually just a bit sad for me. It's hard to let go of old stuff sometimes. I'm glad that some of the people I sold it to will play that stuff, though. But trading it for dirty paper with slave owners on it, even putting that silly paper toward something like the overpriced electric bill, doesn't make me feel better.

Some people have told me I don't know the "value of money", but they wouldn't understand it even if I explained it to them. Some people like things the way they are, but this has never felt right to me.

Anyway, we're doing this again tomorrow just because some people want to come by to get more stuff, but we're not going to stay out as long as today; as I figured, any extra money is not worth the stress. After talking to some others today who came by, starting at 6AM and ending at 10AM seems to be how yard sales work around here.

Reality of things you don't want to do...
Fck, I had this experience too many times in my life. Worse, it can happen everyday for years.

I hope we get more passion, engineering, art, less work.

I wish money was direct source of happiness. Lol, I'd be a millionaire right now because the drive would be so big... but it decreases with time. Experienced people know... I found many replacements and I'm retired as 27 years old with no money, but with income sources (enough).

Yeah, at the end of the day, I just don't like doing anything for money.

Another member mentioned wanting to see me do things I enjoy, but the stuff I enjoy is not anything obvious. Most things I do are only because I feel like I have to. I like cleaning overall, but getting rid of clutter, especially things I may have been holding on to for sentimentality.

I've had to let go of a lot over the last year, and part of that it was deadweight slowing me down. No matter how difficult it is, I need to let go of it because it's a requirement for me to get what I actually want out of life.

Yeah, I understand that.

I remember some kid arguing with me when I was younger because I told him I don't like this money system. He was just saying I need to just hustle and make money, and then I'll see the value in it. No matter how much I made, I felt the same about it, if not worse because it confirmed how I always felt.

I like that you operate like that. I also like having just what I need to cover what's important.
