Since the massive revolution of AI, What's your thought about the future of SEO?

Open discussion please.

Is SEO dead?
No
-But what about ChatGP…
No.

People always have and will always try to rank higher (or rank in a way that gets them more traffic) than others.
Take Yellow Pages up until the early 00s, for example. They listed businesses alphabetically, so business owners just called their business names like A.A.A.A Electronics.

Google has a more complex algorithm that SEO guys try to abuse. Next year it might be something else, but there will always be a way to get more traffic by ranking above a competitor.

Same goes for LLM referrals.

SEO changes all the time, and and instead of adapting, SEO guys tend to panic every 20 minutes asking if it's finally over.
It isn't. Ask again in 2026.

SEO is well and truly dead if you're lazy or stupid and as @t0mmy says above it has been for many years.

I still see people putting a link wheel pointing to a money site and using Senuke to add more links.
Only last month I had a guy approach me for links and SEO, I explained our minimum monthly spend level and he said that was manageable. So, I had a quick look at his site, and it looked like a 2 year old bling, deaf, mute kid had out it together, there were so many issues.

I told him we would not do any SEO until the site was fixed, so gave him a price to get the onpage stuff fixed, he still has to reply.

In short, SEO isn’t dead, it’s adapting. Marketers who embrace AI and stay current with search engine algorithm updates will continue to succeed.

It will be interesting.

It's always changing and new challenges anyway.

Takes a generation or two for things to actually "die" people been calling the death of tv adverts and print adverts before the death of SEO, yet I still see TV ads and I still see ads in a newspaper.

SEO won't be dead till really people born up to 1995 are dead even then it will still be going in some form or another.

As long as there is a way to search the web there will be a way to manipulate results.

The squeeze isn't worth the juice anymore... that's been my take on SEO for a couple of years now.

Not that I've completely abandoned it, but less resources go into it.

One thing I can say from experience - ranking eCommerce collection pages is easier than ever if you target low-competition keywords (plural longtails rank easily once you implement proper schema markup and boost the domain name authority). But ranking blog posts or review articles requires a lot more effort than a few years ago, where you should mainly aim to get into AI overviews at the top of Google results.

SEO will never die if you are smart enough to adapt to the changes. Some people still don’t believe that SEO is no longer about buying backlinks.

They are evolving and transforming into something else. They are finally die, those who are not ready to accept these changes.

Jokes aside..
However, with recent changes, it may seem that SEO is dying in its usefulness, but really, search engine optimization is neither dead nor dying, though it is certainly evolving into something completely new.

It's just changing more and more as time goes on than simply dying .

In general we don't know what will happen in A.I future.

Bill Gates meant to have like invested $1.3billion into A.I builder thing run Indians workers outside of real A.I and I am fairly sure many pointless or dumb investments will happen in A.I now or in the future.

We also if look at some of the main players chat GPT,Grok , Lamia ,Deepseek, among others we don't know who going to win or if anyone will win.

The costs to run Chat GPT is meant to be so many millions so we don't even if that one is making profit or it can make profit if it does not it may shutdown or others may happen to as well.

We don't know how many people simply get bored of A.I which could happen.

AI is reshaping SEO content quality, user intent, and EEAT(Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) matter more than ever. Human strategy + AI tools is the future. Adapt or get left behind!
