Letter From An Office Outlaw
June 22, 2025

On Thursday May 29, 2025 at 11:25PM PST, we hit 300 members on Office Outlaw! That's quite a milestone for such a new forum!

For those of you who don't know, we switched these newsletters from weekly to monthly. As much as we enjoy writing these newsletters, running an entire forum does mean that there is less time to write than there used to be.

Just to give everyone a quick update as to where we're at, we steadily gain new members each day. We're getting a good mix of traffic from just about every main source, which is exactly what we were aiming for since we don't want to be dependent on a singular traffic source. Post and threads are pretty steady here on OO, and it's nice to see everyone posting a rate their comfortable with.

We've slowed down with updates to the forum in order to let things settle, although we're still making improvements to the forum several times each week.

There's your recap on what's happened over the last month. Anyway, here are some of our favourite threads from throughout the last month.

Most Wanted Threads
These are the top 10 highlights of Office Outlaw that we noticed this week.

1. AI content is everywhere. How do you actually make yours not suck?
Author: @Dev
Section:
Content Writing & Copywriting

Everyone is using AI to write content these days, but not everyone is doing it well. In this short thread, @Dev shares how they make their AI content sound less robotic, and opens the floor for others to share their tips too. Whether you’re struggling to polish your outputs or want to drop your own insight, this is a worthwhile read.

2. What I think AI looks for in your Content + "Guide"
Author: @t2van
Section:
Content Writing & Copywriting

If you're trying to rank, you're not just writing for humans, you're writing for machines, too. In this thread, @t2van shares their thoughts on what AI might be scanning for in your content, along with a practical guide to help you tailor your writing for better visibility. If you're trying to get your articles seen, this is one to bookmark.

3. Is Google about to destroy the web?
Author: @UnusualSubstance
Section:
SEO Discussions

We’ve all heard “SEO is dead” before, but what happens when Google changes the game entirely? @UnusualSubstance has shared an article that dives into how the growing reliance on AI in search could drastically reshape the internet, with serious implications for SEOs and site owners. Join the conversation and share your take on where this is all heading.

4. Beginner-Friendly Google Ads Course Recommendations?
Author: @Spy
Section:
Pay-Per-Click

Looking to get started with Google Ads but overwhelmed by options? @Spy is in the same boat and asking for beginner-friendly course recommendations. If you’ve taken a great one, or need one yourself, this thread’s a good place to jump in.

5. A professor testing ChatGPT’s, DeepSeek’s and Grok’s stock-picking skills suggests stockbrokers should worry
Author: @SilverClouds
Section:
AI Solutions

Can AI really pick better stocks than the pros? @SilverClouds found an article where a professor put ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Grok to the test - and the results might make financial advisors a little uneasy. If you’re curious about AI-driven investing, you’ll want to check this out.

6. Pay your EasyWP hosting fee on time! (EasyWP on Namecheap)
Author: @notNewB
Section:
Domains & Hosting
@notNewB missed a hosting payment by a few days, and EasyWP wiped the site with no suspension warning or option to recover it easily. While support helped restore it, the experience was far from smooth. Worth a read if you're using or considering EasyWP.

7. Decent Prompt to improve content you make
Author: @polecat
Section:
Automations

Want better feedback on your content? @polecat shares a ChatGPT prompt that acts like a mix of mentor and devil’s advocate, pointing out both strengths and areas for improvement. Simple, effective, and worth trying if you write regularly.

8. Who got the BIGGEST BALLS in marketing here?
Author: @Dopious
Section:
General Money Making

This one’s for the bold: @Dopious is asking for the wildest blackhat marketing stunts you've pulled off - the ones that actually worked. If you've got a story worth bragging about (and you're not a ferret), drop it here.

9. Build links for free with custom GPTs
Author: @roydan
Section:
SEO Discussions

@roydan shares a clever link-building experiment using custom GPTs. By publishing a GPT that inserts backlinks (and, unfortunately, a few telltale dashes), they’ve been quietly racking up free links from lazy webmasters. It’s simple, sneaky, and might be worth stealing.

10. Temu victims - assemble
Author: @INCC
Section:
SEO Discussions

Are you deep in the Temu addiction too? @INCC woke up convinced their cat needed a tie - and that’s just one of many impulse buys. If you’ve been bulk-ordering useless nonsense lately, come confess with the rest of us.
