Under Consideration Mentoring is Allowed?

This suggestion is under consideration for the future.
I’m leaning toward prohibiting it, although if I do, I need to define it better.

It’s not that mentoring can’t be a legitimate service, my concern is about attracting guru-types to the forum.

I’d like to see what others think in this thread before making a decision, though.

Just to be clear, I don`t think it should be allowed. Even if I got some fine toes going.

-10 = not allow
+10 = allow
anywhere inbetween = Z takes a picture with the ash pose?

I can use some newbies as free VAs if that doesn't violate rules. They'll eventually learn the tricks of the trade through experience.
That's not mentoring tho is it.

That is how most "mentoring" works sadly. Too many folks who've approached me to be an apprentice, have told me how they've been sloughing away for nothing under the guise of being "mentored".

Sigh

Wax on, Wax off!

You get a shiny car, your mentee wins a Karate Tournament and gets the girl! Win Win Win!

Ive never had mentoring like that and I've never given mentorship like that either.

It's normally a case you go to somone with more experience than you, they help guide you grow and develop your business or you personally.

They give advice, you ask questions you get help and so on.

That's exactly what mentorship is.

Your karate kid example is teaching.

To be fair that never happened to when I had it a while ago I got explained well by domain worked from someone at the time was probably biggest private seller of domains in the world outside of like Godaddy or competitors.

Oh jeez... Oh, no...

Someone, anyone, please do -11 or +11 votes.
I think mentoring should be allowed plenty of smart people in different areas.

I can see why the guru type can be annoying or bad but if someone actually good at something then teaching someone else to me a good idea.
That's my take as well. Someone people can teach well.
Oh I mentored about 6 people over the other place. Never asked for money though.

Is that not allowed then? lol
They're going unban your old account just to ban it again after reading that. :ROFLMAO:

I don't think that's an issue. If they're VAs but learning on the job, it's not really the same.

6 upvotes so far.

Well, I’m not opposed to allowing it and trying this out if this is what’s wanted.

So, paid mentoring would be a service, ao it would obviously go in our Trading Post. I suppose unpaid mentoring would go in there as well since it would be considered a free services. Asking someone to mentor you would also just be generally allowed. This is if we get enough votes, so let’s say 11 so I don’t have to do a Pokémon pose. 😏

I don't like the idea of paid mentorship. I think vulnerable users can be taken advantage of too easily. More so than most types of services. I was actually quite certain this was a joke thread, but maybe not? I don't downvote a lot, but I had to here.

Sorry @Rem 🙈🙉🙊

I really hate the whole mentorship concept. If someone want to sell a course, just sell the fucking course.
Free work (or apprenticeship for that matter) is horrible, and I wouldn't want it to be allowed.

Some guidance via DM or TG seems appropriate, I did it myself a bunch of times via Skype, but I wouldn't want anything much beyond that to be allowed here.
