Google has introduced AI-powered voice calls to businesses directly from the search engine in the US. An AI agent can call businesses and ask questions about pricing and availability, so users don't have to call them themselves.

AI calls should be able to significantly increase the pressure on the phone because the threshold disappears when people don't have to call on their own. However, the approach is mainly about booking a service and according to Google, AI calls will benefit businesses. The function is also only shown for a certain type of business such as dry cleaners and car mechanics.

Google still not learnt that If they do anything other than search it fails.

Can see this being open to abuse and stopped within a few months as it will be easier to just dial the place yourself vs going through a forced verification system..

The idea sounds nice but I don't think it is entirely necessary. Maybe not for some businesses... pricing and general info will be available from wherever you find them in a search engine

People rarely call in to ask questions and even if they do, it's most likely going to be something they can't find anywhere online already
