WordPress New direction for the WordPress admin UI: "Materials, Concepts & Screens"

They've launched a new initiative called "Materials, Concepts & Screens," which is all about making some big improvements to the WordPress admin interface.

The goal of this project is to create a more consistent and modern experience across all the different admin screens. The designs they've shared so far are still a work in progress, but they show a clear focus on cleaning up the look and feel, and bringing a more unified design language to the backend.

What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah, but it is really time for a more modern UI, admin feels old-school even to me.

I haven't checked any of my WP sites in ages but this seems like a step in the wrong direction.

Even when they make small changes it can throw off how you use the dashboard entirely. This is way too big of a change and it's only going to piss people off?

UI redesigns can be good, as long as they actually focus on making it easy and clear to use. I just hope they aren't planning on 'modernizing' their UI the same way Apple does.
