Open AI may release GPT-5 this week

A recent rumor claimed that Open AI will release GPT-5 in early August. The new improved language model could be available as early as this week. Sam Altman has posted a screenshot showing a response from the model, while Open AI's head of research said that he is excited to see how GPT-5 will be received.

Microsoft has also quietly introduced a “smart mode” in Copilot that likely leverages GPT-5. The model is expected to be better at logic and reasoning, offer a larger context window, and hallucinate less, among other things. According to speculation, GPT-5 could land on Thursday.
