At this point, this is more preventative than a solution to an existing problem.

In many cases, new forum accounts are used for spamming (I know.. right??).
Sometimes is just to post nonsense all over the place and in other cases is to post these "get $200 in 24H" pdf files.

How about preventing users from attaching files until they are eligible for Sapphire?

It won't really change anything now, but at some point new members won't need manual approval.

I made a similar suggestion on another forum in 2023, the admin that replied said something about a meeting on Wednesday and never updated the thread since then.
I'm not pointing fingers, but *he* is also an admin here, and I'm not falling for this again

The good news is that it's damn near impossible for anyone to add attachments. About 90% of the time I try, it tells me the file is too large.

Upvoted because it's a good idea either way, but perhaps also consider giving higher user levels a bigger limit.

We have 2x higher limits than other forums, and these PDFs are still being posted there from time to time.

Yeah, the attachment limit is pretty low at 250KB, so it can only really be used for small images. I don't run into the limit often myself, but I know other members here do.

I'm in favour of doing this. I can make it so that only registered+ members can add attachments (all members get added to this automatically once their accounts are 2 days old and have 10 trophies).
That usergroup is currently used for the DM system, as explained here: https://officeoutlaw.com/threads/starting-dms.908/

This would be very easy to add in as a result.

10 upvotes and I'll do it.

I think you are right make someone have to be a Sapphire before allowed to post pdf stuff unless approved by mods or management.
Oh, I just saw that.

Yeah, I can consider adding it under Sapphire Eligible rather than Registered+ as well.
