So, I`ll start.

My first computer I ever had was a IBM Aptiva 486 DX4-100 with a Beta version of Win95 cost me a whooping $2500 back in 1994 including a printer new.

Damn, computers are so fckn cheap nowadays compared to back then.

First Computer was in 2000

P4 , Windows98 , 512 MB RAM , 300 Something was HDD I don't remember exactly . :(

2007 year but don't remember the specs really think it was pentium 4 or something but I know that xp was ruling it

Does anyone here still uses xp?

I had a short phase last month where I was actively looking for ways to make Windows 11 look like XP and Windows 7. I heavily considered installing it as the primary OS on one of my computers since I don’t store any sensitive information on there, but I read about some hardware incompatibility issues that could pop-up and put the idea on hold.

I might just buy an old laptop that runs Win 7/XP natively.

The newer operating systems look so dull (or I could be biased). I miss the login sound, the interface, I miss Clippy.

My grandfather was a 20-year Air Force veteran who often built computers. When I was a child, I asked him for one, he told me that if I wanted a computer, I had to build it myself. He gave a bunch of parts with a few empty towers and I was told to figure it out if I want it.

I managed to put it together and the BIOs loaded up, but I had no way of installing an operating system. Because I finished building it, he came over, looked it over, and then took out what he said was a Windows XP military installation CD he was given. He showed me how to install it and I had my first computer!

I told someone about this a couple of years ago and they said he was "too harsh" for telling me to build a computer with no instructions. However, I agreed with my grandfather's approach and I was thankful for the opportunity as he did not have to give me the parts to build one in the first place, and the experience of building it made it more special.

To answer your question, the first computer I had was custom built by me.
