If you've just registered and you're wondering why you can't DM, it's because your account is less than 2 days old. Once your account is 2 days old, you'll be able to start DMs with members on the forum. This restriction does not apply to receiving DMs, though.

This is done simply to prevent someone from signing up and immediately spamming the platform.

Over time, we'll adjust this requirement to be more community-oriented, most likely utilising the star system like we do with Sapphire Status.

2 days z? :P

Accounts are easy to farm. No need to enable pm so fast for newbies imo
It’s just to start. We’re still on manual approvals, but once we take that off, we’re considering using the star system to prevent someone from DM spamming.

The majority of the people who have signed up are trustworthy people we already know, so I didn’t want to affect them by jumping straight to requiring stars when most are still getting to know the forum.

But don’t worry, I agree that we need to bump up the requirement in time.

For now the manual approval is good, but as numbers grow it'll be a lot of work.

Yeah, we’re going to need to eventually switch away from manual approvals. We need to also ensure our anti-bot and other sign-up features are enough to handle any potential problematic account registrations.

There were some measures I wanted to put in place before but couldn’t that I’ve already added here, but there’s still more to do. We do still have time, and I think we can handle up to a few hundred manual registrations per day if it gets to that. Ideally, we’ll switch to account confirmations before we hit that point, though.

am sure you don't have to worry, the hcaptcha you put at sign up is crazy lol I only solved it after many retries haha
