PayPal shares rose nearly 7 percent on Tuesday after reports that fintech company Stripe is in early talks to acquire all or part of the payment technology company, sources told Bloomberg News, and the news comes just days after reports of interest in PayPal began circulating.

That would be a big fckn deal, wonder how much over share price they are offering, hmm.

That is concerning. Stripe is the only payment merchant that I've had my account disabled due to 'abnormally high' chargeback rates, despite them at the time providing absolutely zero fraud prevention on the transactions they processed. Despite my own efforts of manually verifying transaction logs for IP data against supplied CC info and even going so far to try reach out by telephone to customers on sales to verify legitimacy of the transactions... I was getting hit with $20-25 chargeback fees on $10-20 transactions bought in sequence from single buyers, and when they'd chargeback it hit each individual transaction separately. I believe I was still around a 2-3% chargeback rate and that was enough for them to completely kill the account and no support recourse from them.

I don't know how Stripe is nowadays, this was over a decade ago.. perhaps things have improved. However, Paypal has always done right by me and would go above and beyond any issues I ran into with a quick phone call.

I think there is a chargeback fee now regardless if you win or lose.

They have "AI" to assist. I've not had to use the charge back thing probably 18months (finds wood and touches it quickly)

To be honest I really like Stripe. I find the stripe capital thing a bit clunky but they always done good by me.

Paypal urgh I had to reach a level where me leaving kind of hurts them a little (maybe I'm naive on that) for the service and platform to be any good

This was very early on, had an account with them when they launched and processed CC's with them for around 3 years. I'd like to hope they have improved since then. At the time I was only doing around 10-15k/mo in transactions through them, which for sure is low end, but most clients expected/knew Paypal and was the preferred checkout merchant over Stripe. They weren't open to any discussion on the matter.

The trick with Paypal has always been to pick up the phone and call them, their e-mail and ticket support is horrendous otherwise. Certainly I got 'priority' treatment over time through them as I was a business account processing 6 figures a month and had an assigned account manager.. but even before that level I did have good interactions over the phone. I know plenty of others who didn't share my luck though *cough* @t0mmy *cough* and would freeze money on a whim.

Now I wonder if I can even open a new Stripe account.. I tried about a year after the account was disabled but was denied (they effectively ID banned me). It's been a long time since though...

Haha I still have issues with the cunts every whip around, if I remember correctly that’s the reason we used your account back then for everything 😂
