We've updated our site guides, adjusted the requirements for Sapphire Status and there are a couple of new trophies. I swear, this was not to get me to 60 trophy points so I can finally have silver stars!
  • @Impulse updated the requirements for Sapphire Status. We've moved it up to 30 trophy points and 60 days on the forum where it was previously 25 trophy points and 30 days. As the forum grows, we know others will want to purchase Sapphire Status to sell in the Trading Post. However, we want to make sure that only genuine community members have this privilege as we are in no rush to populate our trading section.
  • A few new trophies have been added in, two of which are for account age: one for 2 months and one for 3 months. It's just to give new users a couple of easy trophies. The other trophy is one you receive when you're Sapphire Eligible, that way members have a clear indicator of when they can purchase Sapphire Status.
  • The site guides have been updated to reflect the adjustments made to Sapphire Eligibility.

We have a lot of updates for everyone today!
  • We've updated the terms and rules site guide thread so that it's not just a duplicate of our terms and rules page.
  • We've updated the terms and rules as there were some rules that we added it in (such as rule 2.9) that could only be found on the site guide but not the actual terms and rules page.
  • We've closed the Trading Post to new submissions from non-Founding members whilst we rework the approval process. Current listings will remain open and Founding members can still submit new listings for the time being.
  • The colour of the gold stars has been adjusted as some of you mentioned that it looked too much like the bronze stars. It definitely did, so we made gold stars more yellow and a bit brighter to better distinguish the two.
  • Likewise, bronze stars are a little more brown to also better differentiate them from gold stars.
  • Because of all of the rules updates, we've pushed out a new terms and service agreement, just so nobody is blindsided by any new rules. A summarisation of the rule changes can be found below:
    • The ban threshold in the terms was changed to be 12. We made this change ages ago, but never updated it in the terms.
    • Our member abuse rules were updated to include excessive, targeted insults across threads.
    • The language rules were adjusted to allow phrases in other languages.
    • Our avatar rules were updated to restrict business avatars to logos and text only. This way, we don't have people circumventing the rules on selling using their avatar.
    • The signature rules were updated to allow ko-fi and similar links.
    • The manual account approval rule was adjusted to mention that we reject accounts that were banned due to scamming on other forums.
    • We've updated rule 2.9 on derailing threads to also include threads in The Saloon. This is just so that there's consistency across the forum rather than one section being made an exception to the forum-wide rules.

We just have a couple of quick updates for everyone today.
  • The widgets on the mobile version of the homepage have been fixed, so they now fit to the max width of your screens.
  • All of you who are members here have likely noticed we've started using the mass alerts feature for our announcements. This was thanks to a suggestion from @t2van.

We've got just one update for everyone today.

Today, we focused on expanding our prefixes. As many of you are aware, we use the prefix feature to organise content on the forum. So, rather than having a ridiculous number of subforums that clutter the forums list, we use these instead.
  • As requested by @botboy here, there's a new local SEO prefix in our SEO discussions section.
  • We've renamed the "AI Solutions" section to "Artificial Intelligence". It's more than just a section about solutions.
  • As requested by @t2van here, we've expanded out our AI section prefixes with the following: Claude, AI News, AI Prompts.

I've got just a quick update for all of you today.
  • As suggested by @roydan, we added another prefix to the SEO discussions section for GEO (AI SEO).

Yeah, I know, it's been almost a month since our last update. There are threeupdates for everyone today: a boring rules update, a new menu item, and some new prefixes.
  • We've updated rule 1.4 to include bumping older threads for the sake of increasing message count, trophies, or stars. Thank you to @roydan for suggesting this.
  • Based on a suggestion by @roydan, there are two new prefixes in the General Marketing section: Data Analysis and Web Analytics.
  • After a suggestion by @t2van, we've added the E-mail marketing section to the main menu bar.

There's just a single update today, although it's a pretty big one.

We have some new prefixes in The Saloon. This was based off of a suggestion by @t2van, but we went ahead and added in some additional prefixes.
  • Books - We have a lot of avid readers on OO, so I wanted to add a prefix in to encourage these discussions.
  • Computing - https://officeoutlaw.com/threads/add-computing-under-general-category.2369/
  • Weekend - We often have threads about weekend plans, so this seemed like an obvious one to add in.
  • Holidays - We allow others to celebrate holidays on OO, and since many of you want to create threads on holidays, I felt it was fine to add a prefix in.
  • Movies - Movie threads tend to come up here a lot, so I added this prefix in.
  • Music - We get music threads on occasion, so now we've got a music prefix.
  • Sports - I'm not into sports myself, but many of you are, so you can use this prefix to find threads pertaining to sports.
There were some prefixes we decided not to go with.
  • Birthday - I didn't think it was wise to add this one in. After all, do we really want to make easy for someone to scrape birthdays of members? We already decided to allow birthday posts for those who display it publicly, but I felt adding in a prefix for it was too much.
  • Anything regarding politics - We've been a bit loose about the politics rule lately just to try something out. I'll post a thread about this later in the suggestions section.

We have a couple of small updates for all of you today.
  • I mentioned yesterday that I didn't think it was wise to add a birthday prefix in. However, many of you voted to have birthday posts closed after a few days, and a having prefix for those posts makes that easier to accomplish, especially if we plan on automating those closures in the future.
  • The colour of the Computing prefix has been changed from blue to grey. We already had a blue prefix in The Saloon.
