In celebration of OfficeOutlaw hitting 200 members on the forum (thank you all once again!), I thought it’d be the perfect time to share my picks for the 5 best email marketing tools based on features, ease of use, and overall value. I have tested all five email providers on my own. While I may not be an expert in the email field (very hard to master, in my opinion), I thought you might benefit from this little pros and cons list. Here is my top 5 list of the best email sender tools for Internet marketing:

1) Mailchimp

mailchimp_icon_146054.png

Website: https://mailchimp.com/
Pricing: $0/Month (based on 2000 contacts) | $11 (based on 500 contacts) | $17 (based on 500 contacts) | $299 (based on 10000 contacts)

Pros:
  • It is by far one of the best, if not the best platform for sending mails to your customers, as it also has a generous free plan that offers 500 free contacts.
  • A very clean and modern interface that is easy to navigate and use.
  • It has good automation tools, like customer journeys, branching logic and custom triggers.
  • You can connect it with a ton of apps (such as Shopify, WordPress, etc.)
  • Next to landing pages and social media posting tools, it also has basic CRM tools that you can use.

Cons:
  • If you have a big list already, it can get expensive quite fast.
  • To be honest, their pricing structure even confused me, so make sure you understand what you are buying as they have multiple add-ons and tiers which can get confusing.
  • If you are on the free plan, then you only have limited support and no live chat.
  • The app integration is locked behind the higher tiers, so you need to pay first.
  • Advanced features like automation and segmenting tools can take a bit of time to learn.
Mailchimp is probably one of the best and most known tools for email marketing. It has a ton of tools and integrations that are especially good for beginners if you do not wanna deal with complex integrations to your shop for example. One of the biggest issues I have with Mailchimp is that as your list grows, it can quickly become pricey, and its pricing structure can be quite confusing. However, for me, it is still the #1 choice.

2) SendGrid

sendgrid_logo_icon_169764.png

Website: https://sendgrid.com/
Pricing: $0 (Send 100 emails per day) | $19.95 per month (Send 50,000 - 100,000 emails per month) | $89.95 per month (Send 100,000 - 2,500,000 emails per month)

Pros:
  • SendGrid has the best deliverability rates when it comes to emails. So if you have a big list, this might be the best tool for you.
  • The free tier plan allows you to send 100 emails a day, which is great if you are just starting with a small list.
  • Metrics and Statistics are very detailed. It shows stuff like open rates, click rates, spam reports, bounces, and geolocation data.
  • Wide variety of email design options, with a built-in drag-and-drop tool.
  • Perfect if you have custom integrations. It also shines, if you are automating email workflows through code.

Cons:
  • If you are a beginner, then it can be rather complex to set up.
  • Lower-Tier plans have limited customer support. Also, they are not really that helpful, especially if you run into issues with custom integrations.
  • The email editor sometimes can be buggy or laggy, when making an email.
  • The A/B testing tool is not as good as it is from other email marketing tools.
  • It does not have a built-in CRM. So if you're looking for contact management or sales pipelines, you'll need to integrate third-party tools.
SendGrid is best known for its top-tier deliverability. Perfect for sending high volumes of transactional or marketing emails. It is not as user-friendly as other options due to its technical setup and limited marketing features. It is a great fit for developers or teams that need tight control over email systems and want a high deliverability rate.

3) AWeber

aweber-logo-300.png

Website: https://www.aweber.com/
Pricing: Lite: $15 per month (0-500 subscribers) (Pricing increase with amount of contacts) | Plus $30 per month (0-500 subscribers) (Pricing increase with amount of contacts) | Unlimited $899 per month (No Limit)

Pros:
  • Very easy to navigate and a relatively user friendly interface, which makes it easy for beginners.
  • They have pre-built templates that you can use and edit on your own.
  • They also offer a landing page builder. While I have not used that on my own yet, I believe it's good for anyone that needs a landing page for their email marketing campaigns.
  • Their support is available 24/7, so if you run into any issues, you can expect to receive a solution pretty fast.
  • If you wanna use your own domain, it is relatively easy to set this up as well. All in all, AWeber tries to make it as user-friendly as possible for email marketing beginners.

Cons:
  • I gotta admit. Their website does look a little old in terms of design. Especially if you are logged in, it kind of feels like you are browsing a website, desgined in 2010.
  • AWeber lacks some email automation worksflows. It does have automation, but it is not as advanced as some of their competitors.
  • Other providers offer built multi-channel support like SMS or Push Notification. AWeber does not have that.
  • The segmentation features are a little bit basic, if you compare it to their competitors.
  • As far as I know, they do not have a free version. Only a free trial for 14 days.

AWeber is good and beginner-friendly email software that I have used myself for a long time. It has built-in tools like landing page builder, pre-made templates and a good support system. However, it does lag behind some competitors when it comes to advanced automation. For those who are just starting out or needing something reliable and straightforward, AWeber gets the job done.

4) Brevo

Brevo-Logo-1.svg

Website: https://www.brevo.com/
Pricing: Free: 0$ per month | Starter: $9 per month | Business: $18 per month

Pros:
  • It's an All-in-One Marketing Suite. It includes not only email marketing but also SMS Marketing, live chat, CRM and even WhatsApp Messaging.
  • The free plan is very good for someone that just starts out. You can have unlimited contacts and send up to 300 emails per day.
  • They have a rather flexible pricing plan, which charges based on email volume and not on contact count. This is is great for larger lists with infrequent sending.
  • They have a built-in CRM tool. Simple but also very useful, if you need it.
  • They also have a email warm-up tool. This includes an automated warm-up feature to help build your sender reputation gradually. This can be used if you are sending emails on a new domain, for example.

Cons:
  • Drag-and-Drop Feature can be buggy.
  • Both the SMS and WhatsApp Tool cost extra and are pay-as-you-go. That means they can be expensive pretty fast.
  • The lower tier plans have limited reporting and statistics. More in-depth analytics and heatmaps are only available on the higher plans.
  • A/B Testing is only limited to the subject line.
  • The learning curve for automation is a little difficult. It can be confusing for users unfamiliar with logic-based workflows.
Brevo is a good all-in-one marketing platform. It offers not only email marketing, but also SMS, live chat, CRM, and even WhatsApp messaging under one roof. But the interface can be slow at times, some features are locked behind higher tiers, and users may encounter a learning curve with automation. But if you just want a budget-friendly email marketing platform, then Brevo is a good choice.

5) Sender

sender-logo-stacked-inverted.jpg

Website: https://www.sender.net/
Pricing: Free: $0 per month (2500 subscribers/15000 emails per month) | Standard: $7 per month (12000 emails per month) | Professional: $14 per month (24000 emails per month)

Pros:
  • Their free plan is the best one out there, if you have a large list but don't wanna spend anything. It includes up to 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails/month.
  • Easy and understandable interface, perfect for beginners or someone that just starts out with email marketing.
  • They have good automation features, including welcome messaging, abandoned cart reminders as well as drip campaigns.
  • Their email builder tools is simple, yet effective and you can make some really good emails without any coding.
  • The paid plans are competitively priced compared with other email marketing tools, making it a great choice if you want to scale your operation.

Cons:
  • Their reporting and analytics tools are not as good. For example, it does not have any heatmap analytics or customers journeys.
  • A/B Testing is very limited, even on the paid plans. This makes it very difficult to test different variations in emails.
  • It does not have any native integrations with ecommerce platforms like Shopify. You would most likely have to find a workaround for that.
  • Compared to more other email marketing tools, new features and updates are less frequent.
  • They have a pretty small library of templates to choose from.
With Sender, you have a budget-friendly email marketing platform that's especially appealing to beginners. They have a generous free plan that you can use to get started with it. Unfortunately, it does lack some features that experienced email marketers may miss, such as in-depth analytics, CRM functionality, or multichannel marketing. If you are new to email marketing, then this tool is great to start on.

Feel free to share your own favorite email marketing tools in the replies. I’d genuinely love to hear what you’re using and why. My list is based on my own experience and research, so I’ll admit there’s probably a bit of bias in mine. That said, I know there are tons of great tools out there that I might have overlooked or haven’t had the chance to try yet.

(Yes, this was all written by me).

I am using brevo myself and they are pretty good, and the price is really cheap compared to other ones in the market... :)

Mailchimp is expensive, but they are probably the most known and can ask for more money. :)
