Funny how sometimes things happen and we choose to go on without thinking about that moment but rather make the conscious choice to put it on our metaphorical shelf to revisit it later. That happened to me and my daughter today as we remembered an incident that happened almost two years ago.
We were on a very early flight and did as we always do when we're tired, haven't had coffee and are next to each other. We snuggled and with the rocking and swaying of the plane we were soon in a very comfortable deep sleep.
Only to be woken up later to the sound of the pilot announcing our arrival. As I opened my eyes and looked around a lady right across from us was staring at me with a creepy wide eyed smile.
I was taken aback and startled said "oh hello". I didn't expect a reply and honestly would have been better off if she had of just not said a word.
However, my life doesn't work that way And so She said "Aw I was watching you two sleep. I watched you the whole time..."
I know the face I made and the fact she didn't seem to understand how creepy she was is even more baffling... I was only able to look at her and ask "huh? Why?"
She just said we looked so beautiful and peaceful. That answer only left me with more questions. Were we on her phone gallery? Did she post us on her social media? Why was she watching us so intently? Was it indeed creepy or am I just an asshole?
Do any of you have any bad experiences at airports, planes etc? Please tell me I'm not the only one who has been watched whilst sleeping.
This moment was shelved for almost two years until I suddenly and out of nowhere remembered it today...
I guess it was time to unpack that little doozy!
**safe to say I also found out my daughter heard the whole conversation and chose to pretend to be asleep as to not have to deal with the awkwardness of that moment. She left me in the trenches of creepyville alone! She might be the real villain in this story!
