eta: I'm glad to see the new set up has officially passed the Rem stress test. Now all we need is someone to run a script that mashes F5 while spinning in a chair whispering "optimise me daddy"..

UPDATE:

We've carried out some performance updates and... so far... everything's working well and load speeds seem to have dropped significantly. So now - I'm going to be bold and push the caching just a little bit further. Stick with me.

Here's what I'm working on:

• Guest users will get forum pages served faster — like pre-heated web pizza slices.
• It should reduce server load and improve response times for lurkers, Google, and logged-out visitors.
• Logged-in members won’t notice much… most of the time.

What might look weird:

If the edge caching kicks in a little too hard, you might see things like:

Pages loading like you're not logged in (for a moment)
Alert counts or avatars looking stale
Threads not updating instantly right after you post

These should be brief, rare and harmless - if you notice it, a quick refresh will snap you straight back to the live version. If it becomes intrusive or a nuisance, please flag it up and we'll wind it back a bit. Implementing this change will reduce server load and make the forum feel faster for most users without touching your actual posts or messages.

I'll update shortly.

Mash buttons
Clickety-click everywhere
Aggressively lurk in incognito, like an obsessive stalker

And, as always, report anything weird. (on the forum, that is. I can't help you with your own lives)
