I've come across addons for Xenforo that allow members to schedule their posts.

This is a feature I've always felt was missing from social media websites. For anyone who's done social media marketing, it's like a built-in version of those schedulers you often find in SMM tools where you make the post in advance and can set a time for it to go live.

It's not something I would be able to add in anytime soon, but I was curious to see what others thought about this.

The usual 7 upvotes apply to this as well.

what for?
if you have something to ask or say
you can say it now lol

Why would I need something to schedule here ?

If it were for marketplace thread yes, perhaps but there is a human that verifies threads so not needed.

Sometimes I come across productivity threads like this one that others engage with and the format is similar each week.

However, I’m not sure if there are more use cases or if this idea isn’t right for this forum.

Off the top of my head, someone might want to start a thread during the hours the forum is more active.

So you see a use case for the Trading Post? That side of the forum needs to be improved, so it can be considered for this as well.

It depends on funcions in it, but sure I can vision the possibilities.

There are a few options I believe. I’ll link to them later when I’m back on my PC for everyone to see.

I'd schedule my post 1 week from now to review them and make them 2k words long each. :ninja:

Is there a limit of how many threads you cans schedule? ( what stops someone from scheduling 100 threads the exact same minute)

And make myself look like a clown as usual. :sneaky:

I use that feature on YouTube, but it's not so simple, you get banned when you do it like this. Very straightforward way to get banned. I didn't care about accounts cause they were so cheap, so I abused it.

Still possible, but no more for me, I am healthier and capable of better ways.

That would depend on the addon, but it’s definitely something to take into consideration.
Vacation, article/guide series and so on maybe too.
That’s a good one. Vacation scheduled posts for the Trading Post, too.

that's what save drafts are for...

sorry for having an opinion
but if you are using scheduler post as a drafter.
if it fires off and you forget about it, you aint editing shit
maybe use the actual intended features for it's intended purposes

why?
if you aint around to maintain your thread, whether to reply to people or bump.
that's all it says about how much you care.
if you are scheduling a bump, you are basically saying
fuck you to everyone who asked a question, because you just ignored them, just to get more visibility for sales.

Don’t be sorry for having an opinion as I think the points you bring up are valid.

Hmmm maybe for businessy things like a sales thread or syndicated content on topics related to your business. Generally an interesting idea but probably for when forum is bigger and has more marketplace threads? It's true that it's not very useful for lounge-ish posts.

The only benefit I see for such a feature is to use it if a user isn't sure if a post breaks TOS or not and want a mod to go over it beforehand.

It was't a popular suggestion so I don't see a use case.
