I'm always on the lookout for new clients but man is there a problem with SBOs always getting their damn kids to run their pages.

It's always seen as a thing for kids to do and they usually get the girls to do it if it's Instagram or anything with pictures.

Don't these suckers know there's more to it than just having some kid post pictures? Then they wonder why nothing converts and they're still struggling.

Social media marketing is treated like a joke by these businesses man.

You'd be surprised with how many big companies don't do social either.

Complacency is a very easy thing to up-sell, if they're doing well we can me em do well

Personally I think SMEs tend to come from the opinion that social doesn't work because like me, like all the others all they do is Me, Me, Me, Me, Me. It's all about pushing a product or offer and nothing else.

People aren't there for that (not to start) so it often gets ignored over looked and then social doesn't work unless you give something away for free is the mentality.

Social Media as well is where web designing was when it first started all them years ago. Takes time but peoples thinking and view options will shift.

Social media is often times a time sink for smallbusinessowner hence why they let their children run it.

It's better than doing nothing.

Also SMB (most) want the cheapest with the best ROI possible.

There are so.many of them, but hard to market to in my opinion

It's good for 0 employee companies like mine. How is this a company if it doesn't have employees? Well, you can always come to me and work for free. I can give you a smile in exchange. ;)

You can't start smaller than this lol.

Internships - if someone still does that shit after AI... I don't think so...

Yeah...
It's better to be flogging a dead horse than setup a good YouTube channel, good TikTok page with TikTok Shop...

Yeah, just ignore it. It's very childish to make 1 billion views and it absolutely won't help your business.

100% irony.

Even ad revenue from a good channel or page could be extra income stream.

People don't think big enough. If they did, they would take everything into account.

The reason people don't do social media is that they know a boring way to make revenue and it's scalable for them. But if you aren't making revenue doing nothing but staring at analytics, you'll need social media.

This.

I’ve sometimes reached out to these companies because setting them up is easy and I figured it would be an easy paycheck.

Nope, they’re just not interested! Most of the time they don’t even say why just a “no thank you were not looking at doing social media at this time”.

It’s for things like photography businesses, too.

A lot of small business owners seem to think social media is just posting a few pictures and calling it a day. They don't realize the strategy, targeting, content planning and follow-up matter just as much as the posts themselves. Then when it doesn't bring in sales, they blame the platform instead of the way it was handled.

I agree. People get way too caught up in follower numbers early on. Every successful account started with 0 followers at some point. Social media is a long game, and it takes time to build an audience. Too many people expect thousands of followers after a few weeks, get disappointed, and quit before they've given themselves a real chance.
