Chat Apps You can leave WhatsApp groups silently

The admins shouldn't be notified either.

People out here be making groups like there's no tomorrow.

There are about 6 family groups I wish to leave. I have one of cousins, one with my extended family, there are a couple that were made when the family was planning a wedding or to figure out the logistics of attending one (that still exist today for some reason).

I'd really like to silently leave and if someone notice much much later and asks me about it, I blame it on Whatsapp being corrupted and buggy on my phone.

Right now if I leave them that annoying relative who likes creating groups gets notified and well...

Go to your privacy settings on WhatsApp and change it so that people can’t automatically add you to groups.

It’s the “My contacts except…” option. Select all of the contacts you have and then you’ll get an invite instead, which you can just ignore.

I already have it turned off.

Except in my case you can't ignore the invite because "we're taking your car for the wedding 500 miles away and will gather at your house before leaving".

And also, "The wedding occured 3 years ago, but we still have this group and we use it to send Good Morning texts (y'all should actually click that link and read) and gentle riff raff. Even though it's almost the same set of people in 4 different groups. But this one also has xxxx who is technically not family but just a friend so can't be added to the family group. Because that's obviously sacrilege."

I came across this here. https://wedoyour.group/whatsapps-new-feature-you-can-now-leave-silently/

Only admins of the group would be notified, but you can otherwise leave a group silently.
This update came earlier, I think. It's been months since this got updated.

sounds like a brown family issue 😂

I mean... At least you get invited to weddings, not only funerals 😂

Absolutely.

I mean as an unmarried man in my 30s I am already breaking way too many family rules.

But then again, our weddings have like a minimum guest list of 500 (for smaller weddings) and can swell up to 5000 (when entire villages are invited). So invitation is not a big deal.

As for funerals, we don't do invites (not sure if you meant it that way). You're just supposed to show up.
