I've been looking into getting clients by listing my services on freelancer sites like fiverr and upwork, but everything I've heard is that they are too saturated and it's impossible to get work through there.

Is this all true? Is there any point in using these kinds of sites?

Yes, what about BHW Marketplace? ;)

It's an option, but a little pricey for me. And I wouldn't want to create a sales thread in a section with a billion threads that have Please Read next to them. :sneaky:

That's right, market place is flooded with more sales thread..

There is higher competition, if you are reputable you get clients out of competition..

Am not pushing you in this, just saying from the experience..

Naw, thank you for sharing your experience man. BHW marketplace is a lot better than other freelance websites for now. I'd need to build a bigger reputation on there first though

Yes there is, however as you already stated its kind of saturated and hard to get jobs. If you do get jobs let them know to give a review afterwards. Reviews are boosting up your rankings and will help you get more jobs in the future. Other than that, there are a lot of other marketplaces (mostly smaller ones) out there where you can actually get some listings up as well. They may not have as much traffic as Fiverr or Upwork, but combine them all together might work wonders.

Thank you for the advice! I think listing on as many sites as possible sounds like the way to go forward for now.

yes, just make sure that you are always on top of your orders as if you do not fulfill the orders they can suspend your account.

Well you have 2 choices, go for a relatively unknown or new platform where there is not much traffic ( higher chance of getting hired) or go with a platform that is already known and have hundreds of listings per day of which you can reply ( lower chance of getting hired as newcomer but most likely less scammy)

Not on BHW ;)
I have zero sales in my 1 week thread
Others also experience that, I am in contact with few Jr.execs and they see massive drop of sales in last 4 months.
They done something wrong with the marketplace and it's flooded like never before. Also they destroyed bump system in categories other than SEO.
In SEO, every post is bumping the thread, even short one. In other sections if even moderator write "BUMP" or "Good Service", nothing will happen.
The exposure of threads there is a lot smaller than before.

Honestly, many of sellers I am in contact consider to abandon BHW.

Reason;- The Rise of Competition..

You will also need to invest on [pinned 📌 sticky ] in order to get some sales ..

In the past, there is Good Sales & have earn enough money in the marketplace section.

But things getting changed as the Time changes..

pinned is worthless, paid a lot for them, the true value is pinned globaly and banners, but they are occupied for next year xD

If it's worthless, why people occupied for next year.. 🤔
Some people still earn decent money.. 💰

Pinned in category - worthless, you can buy it ASAP asking Greg, no matter how many posts are pinned, they will accept everyone if you bring $90-$180 weekly :)
Pinned outside category (there are 2 places on top and 2 on bottom) are occupied whole year
Banner - occupied whole year

I've been talking with other members who were asking me about what's going on with this.

I won't go into great detail about it in a public post, but many of these changes happened starting in late 2023/early 2024 when they made someone who doesn't have an IM background the new marketplace manager. My processes weren't perfect, but a lot of them were altered or even done away with after this happened.

I'm sure you've heard things from other sellers who are being asked to describe how their service works, and based on all of this, anyone can put two-and-two together that the "free review copies" section seems to just exist to compensate for the manager's lack of knowledge on the services. I don't know what the specific 'algorithm' they implemented is, but it's pretty clear it's done nothing but cause issues for many sellers on the platform.
Pinnedtogether with 30 other threads, yeah good way to stand out 😆
I was messaging someone about this the other day. There were 31 stickies in the social media section, and then I checked again yesterday and there are now 32.

I heard from a former employee who worked there before me that there used to be a hard of 5 or 10 threads per section. I'm not sure when that was done away with.

Cool, 😎
I've purchased several times in the past & Good experience in the past.. But not at Present or Recently..

Generally Speaking.
Many people can't afford paying $90 - $180 weekly.. Too high like wicked fire :D

It was hinted to me pretty heavily that the 'algorithm' is essentially just based on word count with a slight focus on user status.
