I'll make this short as the last couple of days has been crazier than average and I can't dedicate the hours to proofread, rewrite and post this properly from a computer.

Lately I started experimenting (which, in my case, is just a fancy word for 'playing') with custom GPTs for content creation.

After going over all the steps for creating the content, I instructed it about internal links so it can browse my sitemap and come up with natural anchors that fit the content, as well as an outgoing link to a well established site.

My original plan was to keep this GPT private, and then I thought to myself "why not publish it and let lazy webmasters link to MY site?"

So obviously I started working on another GPT because this is not the type of stunt I'd pull with my main site, but despite a slow start (I think it was slow..) I started getting some links in a pace I wasn't used to, always from posts that also put a link to a well established site from a list I conveniently gave to ChatGPT.

I did my best to convince this stupid chat to stop using the long "-" but the bastard is just addicted.
So anyway, I can tell the links are coming my GPT because of the link to a site I pre chose and the annoying -- I can't get rid of.

That's it. Not ground breaking, not sure if original, but it should be simple enough to try.

Nice share. That's a bit like the lead magnet idea I had using custom GPTs? Nice to see someone took action on it.

Have you had any uptake or any links back from it yet at all? Or early days

So far only "has been" or "too new to care for" type of sites, but it's only up for a 2-3 of weeks and haven't really checked what happened in the last couple of days.

I assume my only chance to acquire a good link with this would be to hope one of these little sites grows enough with time. Big sites will look and proof the content they're posting.

Just to double check do you mean you created a add on feature to chat gpt where people can install on their own chat gpt service then link to your website if they want from their own sites giving you link juice?

Not exactly.
I created a GPT for content creation that links to my site from every piece of content it makes, so when other website owners use it, I get a natural looking link inside their content unless they notice it and remove it.

I see.

If say dummy site or something not to important should be fine but if a serious site could give you issues

To an extent. You can't really control which sites link to you, and the more links you have, the more times ChatGPT would consider you as authoritative and link or refer you traffic on its own.

Sounds good hope works out well for you
