The AI Bubble is About to Burst

Well... He raised some valid points about the millions and billions being spent on AI, but he never provided numbers on how much revenue AI companies are actually generating. Im not sure about the figures, but according to this source (https://explodingtopics.com/blog/chatgpt-users#chatgpt-subscriptions-and-revenue), ChatGPT makes about $2.7 billion annually, with forecasts projecting it to reach $4 billion.
Rather than only focusing on the spending side, he could have offered a stronger argument by including a cost-versus-revenue analysis for different AI companies.

But I completely agree that many companies are simply slapping the term “AI” onto their business to create hype and drive sales. That doesnt necessarily mean we are in an AI bubble.

Well, the dot com era crashed but has never been stronger than today, learn from history.

As you picked them.

They are not profitable OpenAI runs at a loss and it's raising money on projected profits.

Which is mad when it runs in the red..

I think nvidea and Microsoft are profitable there's not many but that's due to the wider company as a whole.

It's 100% a bubble...

There will be looser the issue will be..

1. A company will win and take over the others leaving a selection or handful of players.

2. None get there in time to the win point and then investors gets antsi as investments dry and people bail by selling off.

Win can be generative ai or just making a profit whatever those or that target is really.

I think time we get to super intelligence it won't matter anyway...

I just use it as an AI assistant and not wholly rely on it as I dont want brain drain

Plus he clearly used AI in some parts of the video that means AI is here to stay :)

...that's the whole point of the video, if you listen to the end. The technology itself is real (as is/was internet during dot com bubble) but it's crazily overhyped. Once the bubble bursts what is actually real will remain. And that is *some* innovation but not as much as it's hyped out to be.

We agree to disagree! :D
Hey man would be boring as fuck if we all agreed. Just don't be like @TheVigilante and celebrate my dogs death that takes it a bit too far.

But to disagree is part of forum life makes this place grow and thrive.

Take it easy.

Y2K, then dot com bubble.

Our teachers were telling the planes would come dropping off from the skies at 12 AM 2000. They said the internet fad will end and people will go back to their old ways.

So imo the usual gamblers(VCs, seed funders and investment companies) will pull out their money. Some will win and some loose when that correction happens. Then AI will evolve with blockchain. Web 3.0

Right from being used in colleges, goverment offices for everything from tracking and bookkeeping to performing medical surgery to robo cops. It could possibly do all good.

My version of an happy ending without any catastrophic event like job loss and civil war.

Also i think with quantum computing and AI evolves the banks will fold. Humans will go on a permanent holiday. Bird watching, running, space missions, deep sea missions. With no concept of money because everything is automated right from farming to doctors to governments. All borders gone. Chips in people's head to make us singular.

In a decade it'll be more common to own a human-like robot than a pig or a horse!

This market is gonna blow up harder than automotive!

People, it's a revolution!! An industrial one!!

Save up to get your own robot. Don't stay behind!

Even if it crashes, it will matter 0 for us. All popular models will still be working. There are enough models that are open source for coders to work with for their own services. It will just be like toothbrushes. Do you get a regular one or electric..

Smaller players won't get funding and the market will just be dominated by 1-3 players.

AI will come and go but your experiences on making unique content or any other things which google going to accept will be reembark one day. Machines can help you but can't do everything.

@payal23j my reply is about factory workers never thought they would be replaced by machines or robots on assembly lines and that to a degree is exactly what has happened, as the need to cut overheads and growing profits it's easier to replace a worker with something that can do your job quicker, faster, without breaks and in most cases 1 machine can replace 10 or more people requiring only 1-2 people to maintain it.

So saying machines can help but can't do everything, our own history since the dawn of industrial revolution has proven otherwise...

True, it helps but can't do everything. If we say machines can do all the things, there's no need of human skills or knowledge so it' can't be replaceable.
